When the Bride Stopped Waiting

When the Bride Stopped Waiting

Celeste was sent to a quiet estate in northern Europe and never returned to New York’s family circles. By the time those stories reached me, I was in my study in Palermo, reviewing the southern route accounts. Adrian came in with our daughter in his arms. She was clutching a small silver toy seal and reaching for me with a bright, impatient sound. I set the papers aside and took her from him. Outside the window, the harbor lights were coming on one by one. I had once waited in a chapel seven times for a man to choose me. In the end, the life worth having began the day I stopped waiting.

HATING HER KING

HATING HER KING

As soon as Gwen crossed the threshold into the room, her steps slowed down when she caught sight of who was already seated at the breakfast table. Lady Jane Farrington, a woman of noble lineage and considerable influence. As the daughter of a marquess and the niece of Alexander's uncle, she was fitting as the candidate for the king's lady in waiting. Against herself, Gwen was uneasy at the simple presence. It shouldn't threaten her, but it did, and the air in the room grew heavier, tension weighing on it.

Lily and the Cold Billionaire

Lily and the Cold Billionaire

“You’re supposed to familiarize yourself with my schedule, emails, and upcoming events. You’ll be accompanying me to social functions, meetings, and charity events.” I blinked. “You want me to play secretary?” “I want you to play the role of my wife.” His words sent a strange shiver down my spine. I opened my mouth to argue, but before I could, the door swung open. A stunning woman with dark hair and piercing blue eyes strode in, her heels clicking against the marble floor. She barely spared me a glance before turning to Lucas with a dazzling smile. “Lucas,” she purred, ignoring my existence. “I was hoping we could discuss the upcoming investor’s gala.”

A Fairy Well-kept Secret

A Fairy Well-kept Secret

The pretty lady had a petite build with wide hips, her hands holding onto a list and several books. Dorothy stiffened. The new woman’s eyes were focused on Theodore, a shy, tender smile curving her lips. Daffodil flinched when a loud noise at her right caught her attention. She whirled around to stare wide-eyed. A gorgeous lady stood glaring at her, arms crossed over her chest. Glancing down, Daffodil saw the lady had laid a heavy stack of books on the table. “New librarian?” Her voice was cold and annoyed.

purplessly
Although I agree with another comment about some issues with grammar and spelling it really isn't that bad compared to almost all other stories I've read here and I have to say that this story really struck a cord in my heart. Such a lovely and inspiring story and I am very pleased with how it ended

The Impact of Her (ALL SEASONS)

The Impact of Her (ALL SEASONS)

Mother immediately grabbed hold of my arm, “There is a reason why the gods took her too early. But you must never harbour any anger or resentment because of this. We have to wait for the answers that we need.” Wait?? At this moment of crisis, I still have to wait?? Why should I wait for everything to be cleared for me? Did everything required for me to wait? I couldn’t just sit here and wait for the answers to arrive, especially in this sort of a situation. Lady’s death was unfair. Absolutely unjust. Whoever did this to her knew very well that Lady couldn’t fight back. They knew that no one guarded the horses at night. The killer should be hanged for their crime!

BOUGHT BY THE BEAST

BOUGHT BY THE BEAST

Ana said, "and waits eleven years to use it?" I thought of Lirien standing in the gallery, composed and patient, smiling at me like an old friend reunited after too long apart. "I think we're about to find out," I said. Outside, the light had turned fully gold, sliding toward the particular blue of early evening, and somewhere in the eastern garden, a woman who had let the world believe she was dead was waiting for the hour she had chosen eleven years ago to finally arrive.

Married in Her Name

Married in Her Name

The room looked the same. The fireplace was unlit. The tea table waited. The shelves held old books and porcelain birds. Near the window, Lady Ashbourne sat in a high-backed chair with a cane beside her and a folded newspaper in her lap. She looked smaller than she sounded, which was always a mistake people made with old women until it cost them something. “You are late,” she said. Daniel glanced at the clock on the mantel. “We are four minutes early.” “Then I have been kept waiting by expectation. It is very rude of you.”

Her thirst for vengeance

Her thirst for vengeance

“That was before everything got... complicated.” I didn’t reply. What could I say? That I, too, sometimes wished I was still the girl full of hope and illusions? That I hadn’t learned the truth about myself and what I could never have? The door swung open a crack, revealing one of Lady Catherine’s maids. The woman took one look at me and pursed her lips like she’d tasted vinegar. She stepped aside without a word, and Adrian led the way in. Lady Catherine sat beside the medevial looking fireplace, looking as regal as ever—her hair neatly pinned, her posture straight, and her expression... stony.
