“We are getting on each other’s nerves.” “What are you reading?” I ask as I snuggle up to Cordelia. I glance at the page of the book and the words on the page are shifting and changing. A white wolf prances across the page, and it looks just like Liz’s wolf. I try to read the words on the page, but I can’t keep up with their changes. “What does it say?” I ask Cordelia. Cordelia exhales heavily. “The white wolf is said to be a direct descendant of the Moon Goddess. What do you know about her mother?”

she asked. Most in the ballroom remained silent, but there was grumbling from a few… including especially those seated in the box. That grumbling must have been enough for Lily, because before our eyes, she transformed into the most beautiful wolf that I have ever seen. While pulling it out, I noticed a rough carving of a creature I had never seen. "What is this?" I inquired while raising it. Zara leaned in, her eyes widening slightly. "Well, well. It seems the goddess has a sense of humor. Luna Lyra is a dire wolf." My heart sank. A dire wolf? I'd heard stories of these creatures - larger, fiercer, and far more dangerous than ordinary wolves. How was I supposed to take one down on my own? "Is there a problem?" Zara asked, her tone mockingly sweet.

The assassins froze and staggered back. Fear crawled up their spines like icy fingers as the massive white wolf glared at them, eyes burning like fire. Her deep, thunderous growl echoed through the forest, rattling the trees. They had been told the girl was nothing—just a regular human, no wolf, no Lycan. Mira had assured them she was harmless.
