Lara caught Ximara’s arm, eyes scanning her face.
“You good?” she asked, excitement and concern tangled together.
“I’m great,” Ximara lied easily, flashing a grin. “Let’s forget everything. I want to do something I’ve never done before.”
Lara’s eyebrows shot up. “Drinking?”
“Maybe,” Ximara said, without hesitation.
One vodka soda hit her more than she expected. Her tolerance was low, and the room tilted almost immediately. Lara laughed beside her, already tipsy herself.
“What about Stephan?” Ximara asked, words around the edges. “Isn’t he gonna freak out?”
