Rowan’s POV The third day arrived faster than I expected. This was it. The last day. If I couldn’t reach Iris today, she would be gone forever. I walked to her room with a heavy heart, barely holding myself together. When I entered, Raven was sitting on the bed, looking as smug as ever. “I heard from the guards that today was the last day,” she announced cheerfully. “After today, this body is officially mine. No takebacks.” I sat down in my usual chair and started talking.

What has changed? "I know it's been forever." Raven sighed dramatically, bypassed me and dropped into the seat next to Mom. It was weird to see them both together. Raven looked the same as usual, though. Her arms were decorated with sparkly bangles and bulky rings lay on her fingers. She pushed her black hair over her shoulder and it cascaded softly down her back. "So, where are you both off tonight, then?" Mom asked excitedly, sounding like a teenage girl. "There's a New Year's Eve party at Ross's house," Raven began. "I know it's going to be good because my horoscope says I should focus on myself more for this month so that means I'm getting blackout tonight."

It was gone in an instant, replaced by that same ruthless confidence that had brought us this far. Raven pushed off the pillar and stepped toward me. “We’re on the verge of something great,” he said, his voice low. “The First Clan is the last obstacle. Once Luca is gone, no one will stand against us. The Lunar territory will be mine, and the other clans will have no choice but to fall in line.” “And if they don’t?” I asked, though I already knew the answer.
