Every breath felt like swallowing needles. As they neared the bunker, the ground began to teem with movement. Not soldiers, but "Scavengers"; mechanical hounds with multi-lens eyes that scurried over the rocks, hunting for biological heat signatures. "Down!" Lucian shoved Maya into a shallow crevice just as a Scavenger leapt over their heads, its metallic claws clicking against the stone. The machine paused, its head rotating 360 degrees. A beam of violet light swept over the rocks, inches from Maya’s face. She held her breath, her heart drumming against her ribs. The twins suddenly gave a sharp, synchronized kick.

The soul I encountered was flabbergasted at first but then started to laugh after, "Pft! You call that a scythe? What? You gonna rip my soul or cut my hair instead?! I bet that's safety scissors only enough to cut a paper! Hahaha!" I pouted, It's not my fault this host chose such a scythe! She could choose garden scissors yet choose this! I flipped my hair like nothing happened, "Huh, you must be scared so badly you started laughing like a maniac~ I can't help it if you're a baby~" "Eh?" ... “Let’s go find Eason, and then the kitchen. I need a snack before we go on the scavenger hunt.” Nyla’s stomach growled. She hadn’t had breakfast. “Scavenger hunt?” she asked as they exited the room. “Yeah, there are activities the camp has set up for us. The first one is this epic scavenger hunt. It changes every year, and the winners get extra credit,” Eason answered from just outside the door. He’d been waiting for them in the hall. His eyes shone with a fervor that only the pursuit of perfect grades could give him.

Liam wanted to laugh at her response. “Of course you should, after all I know you must have been dying slowly of boredom” Okay, this time, Liam did laugh, it was a deep and throaty laugh and Scarlett's head snapped in his direction and her eyes widened a fraction. Scar folds her arms and turns away, glaring out of the window when she is not even sure what she’s upset about, “I’m just worried about our deal.” Silco's lips curve up, and his eyes are light gentle, and caring, but right before Scar turns around to peek at him he looks away and hides that moment of his true self-- “Speaking of our deal,” Silco opens his suitcase at foot, pulling out a black invitation card with golden edges, “I bear a gift for you.” The curious new toy successfully made Scar put the little moment at the back of her mind, “What’s this? HA?” On the front are two gilded words: Heritage Auctions.

KHAN. Suddenly, Scott ran up to the basement room, he was screaming and dusting invisible things off his body. I almost laughed at the awkwardness. He was jumping, and sprawling around. “What the fuck!” I chuckled. He was flying about until a cockroach came out of his pants. My eyes went wide before the laughter I had been trying to control fell out of my mouth.

The growls from the fierce animals added to the chilling atmosphere, their mouths watering even though they were well-fed.

Some of them even roll on the grass, laughing and I wonder whether I have said something funny. “Have I said something funny?" I ask them. They get a bit serious and the laughter dies away. They look at each other, then at me, and the leader addresses me, trying very hard not to laugh. “Forgive us but what you say is unbelievable. You don't look like a Luna of anywhere, and by your looks maybe you should stop lying and take us seriously." The leader says.

I countered, "I actually do think I'm senile sometimes. I have weird dreams and think of weird things; I've even met the grim reaper a few times. I think I'm way past senile, don't you think?" I heard laughter after my rant; was he laughing at me? How's the grim reaper capable of producing such a cute & gentle laugh? He was beyond rude, but blessed with cute laughter. "That's wasn't me; I don't laugh. Laughing doesn't suit my line of work. That was my scythe." "Quit reading my mind! How do I shut you out?" I paused, "Wait, your scythe can laugh?"
