The Half-Life of a Werewolf
Bella clapped anyway, her laughter bright.
“You look like you’re trying to dance!” she teased.
“Don’t encourage her,” Cassidy muttered, though her smile betrayed her. “Keep your knees bent, Aurora. Loosen your grip.”
I exhaled, tried again. And again. Each time, I stumbled, almost falling. Sweat already trickled down my neck though I’d barely done anything. Still, I refused to stop.
That’s when a voice cut through the arena like a blade.
“Pathetic.”
I froze. My grip tightened around the staff as I turned. Liam stood at the edge of the ground, arms folded, his face shadowed by that arrogant smirk. His eyes burned into me with something between disgust and…curiosity.
