Corrupt Temptation

Corrupt Temptation

Instead of using a lock an organic substance that resembled thin hardened vines or entwined prickly twigs wrapped around the cover and held it closed. They appeared to have a slight nearly living pulse. I scowled curious. What sort of book was this and why was it bound this way? I tugged harder my fingers grazing the rough intricate surface as I attempted to untangle the odd binding. Then a piercing burning pain. I let out a gasp. I looked down at my finger as I flinched away dropping the book with a loud thump. My skin had a thin deep line that was already crimson and dripping blood. With a sharp hiss of pain I muttered a curse. I had been deeply and sharply cut by the binding.

First of all, I love the suspense. Its giving read more and find out and then I like Ivy's boldness or should I say her not being scared of anything. Like, I could feel the chills when she saw the rope. Girl isn't scared of anything... lemme go and read more... Nice work, author.

Choosing my fated mate- the princess games

Choosing my fated mate- the princess games

I found my way to the library, hoping to read up on the mate bond. Thick leather bounded books filled the heavy oak shelves. Hundreds written on the instant bond at 18. only one of the other sides of bonding. I picked the book up before finding a secluded area. I pulled my knees against my chest as I began reading.

The Adventure of August Back to Earth

The Adventure of August Back to Earth

I just shook my head. I looked at the books there where there were students. New is too expensive. At the sale, the books were slightly damaged but that's okay with me because the pages are not damaged, the damage is more on the cover. "Hellbound........ starry sky.........life in Pandora........" Wait, life what? I looked back at the book. Life in Pandora. I blinked my eyes but the title didn't change. My heart beat faster. I know I'm hoping again but I can't help it. Pandora is not an unknown term here. It's common. Like Pandora's box or titles of stories. It's sealed, but it looks like there are watermarks on its pages.

Bound by paper

Bound by paper

Mine was frantic and shallow; Killian’s was deep and dangerously steady. The air in the library smelled of old parchment and expensive leather, a sharp contrast to the perfume and champagne outside. It was a cold room, but the heat radiating from Killian was enough to burn. He did not turn on the lights. He did not have to. The moonlight filtered through the tall windows, casting long, jagged shadows across the floor. He did not stop until I was pressed back against a shelf of leather bound books, the hard spines digging into my shoulder blades. "Killian," I whispered, the name catching in my throat.

Bound with Shadows

Bound with Shadows

I took the book back and folded the page, I would need it just in case I had another dream. I then turned to the second book. The ancient word of the scribe, this was plain white and even with the years there were no stains to the cover or any blemish. It was almost as good as new, that was surprising. It was irrelevant anyway so I opened it, it had a different layout to the first book. There were no chapters set out or anything to lead me to specific places. I groaned in frustration, would I have to read the whole thing. I checked the first chapter, it was an introduction, a long note on the guidance the book would provide.

Bound to Burn

Bound to Burn

I ask warily. "I still have Brad," he says honestly. Brad. Noah’s all-seeing informant. I’ve constantly hated him. "Are you still wondering about it?" "If I stay with you," I say slowly, "I won’t pay off the two million greenbacks." "You know that changed in the settlement from the start. Stay married, and you owe me nothing." He clicks his tongue, his gaze narrowing. "But you chose disobedience, didn’t you?" I pressure a bitter smile. "Permanently this time."

THE BLOODBOUND CHRONICLES

THE BLOODBOUND CHRONICLES

"You've been suppressing it for too long." She shook her head. "That's impossible. I'm not that strong." Kael crouched in front of her, his expression serious now. "You're not supposed to be. Not unless you were born with bound magic." She stared at him. "You keep saying that. What does it even mean?" He studied her wrist again, the mark still glowing faintly. "When two powers-demon and witch merge, they create something called the Bloodbound. A fusion. The last one nearly destroyed three realms."

Hollow Throne

Hollow Throne

The sixth register was smaller than any of them expected. Octavo-sized, the kind of book that fit in one hand, bound in the same worn-honey leather as the others but with a different quality to its age this one had been touched more recently, handled more carefully, as though whoever had held it last had understood what it contained and had treated it accordingly.
