Chapter 4: Playing the Part Jake leaned against the counter of his coffee shop, his fingers drumming restlessly against the polished wood. It was early morning, yet the usual comforting aroma of freshly brewed espresso and warm pastries did little to soothe his nerves. Outside, the press was swarming like vultures, cameras flashing as soon as any movement was detected inside. A few brave customers had attempted to slip through the chaos, but most turned away, unwilling to deal with the circus outside. The sudden media attention was overwhelming, and Jake couldn’t shake the feeling that his once simple life had taken a sharp, irreversible turn.

"Oh, what's the problem? We can rent him because I'm willing to pay a few thousand dollars." "Kevin is the only available Miss Margaux," Lucy said, her voice trailing off when the man's name was mentioned. "Sir Declan only allowed him to drive because he was over the age limit, while the rest of the staff here were minors, and Mang Lando and a few others his age were afraid to hold the steering wheel out of fear of colliding." All of a sudden? “Um…” I shook my head. “Even though I was too broke to afford a car, I was kidnapped by your men a week before my driving test to get my license” Hardy briefly glanced at me and I shrugged at the questionable gaze he gave me. “It’s nothing but the truth” I shrugged again. He sighed, defeatedly. “Okay how are you holding up? Do you think you can learn to drive pregnant?”

Blame him for his handsome face. Cristine, in case you didn't know, owns a car. However, she still lacks a driver's license. Her student permit is still being processed. She is resourceful. Her Tito wouldn't let her drive, and he made getting a driver's license nearly impossible for her. Her mother is the only one who knows she drives despite the fact that she does not have a driver's license. BEST FRIEND! Clyde is Cristine's brother, but she hasn't mentioned it yet. Cristine and he were only a year apart in age. Clyde resides with his biological father and does not live with them. Is it confusing?

Getting there after 30 minutes I heard his voice. " Hey! Driver! Over here" staggering towards me he laughed. "Driver driver driver " he laughs then threw his key at me, catching the key fast because of reflex I almost smile at myself for that. " Take the wheel" he frowns. " I can't drive, my license was suspended." " Oh yeaaaaaaaaaaaa " he draws the yea. " You did a hit and run. Then why did you come?" He ask " I thought you were too drunk and something might happen " I replied.

Brandon squeezed my hand, “You okay?” “Oh, yeah.” I gave him a half smile, coming back to reality. “Too bad I can’t drive.” “Hey, you’ve been doing really well lately. I bet if you had to, you could manage.” “You think?” He stood up and pulled me to my feet. Brandon had been giving me driving lessons recently, and I thought I was all right, but there was a difference between driving around the streets on campus and actually being out on the open road. “Sure. If you can levitate a person, I think you can drive a car.”

Billy and his accomplices were grinning from ear to ear on the screen. "Thanks so much for the gift! We've successfully cracked down on a thieving syndicate today, and it's all thanks to your support! You guys are awesome!" They were still riding in their dilapidated van, racing along the winding mountain road to celebrate. The camera occasionally cut to the outside of the car, showing off their so-called speed and passion for racing, I stared at the screen for a long while. With my decade-long experience honed in auto repair, I quickly spotted an anomaly in their video.

"Ruin us? As if Hayden can do anything. He's just a low-level driver." Casey lost her temper instantly. "Shut your damn mouth! My boyfriend is not a driver! He drives a Maybach and lives in a massive villa. How could he possibly be a driver? I bet you're just helping this bitch split us up so she can slide right in and steal my boyfriend!" Clarence looked at her with pure disdain, as if he had just heard the funniest thing in the world. "You are aggressively stupid. The Maybach outside belongs to Ms. Gray. This villa belongs to her as well. Hayden is nothing more than a driver on her payroll."

"Drive! Get out of here now!" Jack panicked, urging Chloe. They scrambled to shove me back into the car. But the police cars had already arrived. Blinding lights flooded the entire vehicle. Red and blue lights flashed across their panicked faces. "Freeze!" The police shouted into the car, their voices powerful and authoritative. Chloe tried to resist, but the officers had already surrounded them and pressed her to the ground. Jack made one last desperate attempt. "Officers, this is a misunderstanding! This is a family matter! We're family!"

“We’ve landed, Mr. Gordon. We don’t really know our way. Can we trouble you to send someone to meet us? We don’t want to cause any delays.” I clenched my fists tightly. “I’m coming.” After the call, I fought back the thrill inside me and gently put my arm around Vivian’s shoulders. “This is the moment I have been waiting for, Viv. Care to join me?” Vivian furrowed her brows. “But… I can’t drive.” The comment had me caught between laughter and tears. Following the whole drama with Cassandra, my license plate went public, so I couldn’t take my car on the road. People would start throwing garbage at me when I went out for a drive.
