I returned a favoring smile to her by doing it genuinely before I took the book on her soft palm, an almost thick book with a blue cover. The book is heavy. On the front cover, there is a closed eye with long black thick lashes in a form of feathers placed inside a pentagon. Outside the badge has a wonderful abstract ocean and sunrise. Below it, golden embossed letters are shining to make its cover spectacular: BOOK OF A ZONER "Begin reading from page two to page five," Psyche said to me, stopping me in amazement. So I did what she wanted me to do. I flipped the pages until I reached the second page of the book. I started reading what's on it.

"Claire, the wolf inside me weeps for your leaving. Stay as my Luna, will you?" I backed away, putting distance between us. Could someone who had not seen the light in three years suddenly turn over a new leaf in three days? No way. I shook my head with a light smile. "Darren, you've had ninety-nine chances over these three years. Everything could have been different if you had kept your promise just once. The wolf inside me was yearning to break free. I could not help but smile. "If you really care about me, you'll let me go. Set me free."

“Cool, but creepy.” I avoided the mirror this time. Went for the desk instead. It was cluttered with scrolls, crystals, and a heavy leather-bound book that practically radiated forbidden knowledge and motherly guilt. On the cover? “To the cursed chosen one. – A.” I blinked. “Excuse me?” I opened it. The moment I did, a swirl of golden-blue light burst from the pages and wrapped around me like a magical bear hug from someone who’d been spying on me since birth. RUDE.

One never knew when that information could come in handy. Plus, it’d help to pass the time and keep me busy. Sounded like a win-win to me. There was some type of writing on the front that I couldn’t read, but I could feel the power radiating off of the book. Strangely, Bex couldn’t feel it. I opened the cover, revealing an intricate colored illustration that showed a large silver wolf standing below a blood moon, its head tilted back in a howl. Light from the moon fell in rays onto the wolf.

Its pages flipped rapidly by themselves, stopping at an almost blank page, only a small illustration in the center: a medal with a split sun emblem. "What does it mean?" Kit asked. Before Siron could answer, the apartment lights went out. Total darkness. Only moonlight from behind the curtains illuminated the room. They froze. Then, one by one, the books on Siron's shelf began to fall. Thud. Thud. Thud. Not messily. But orderly, as if someone was deliberately throwing them. The first book fell near Siron's feet. The second near Kit. The third, the fourth, forming a semicircle around them.

Behind the panel was a small space, just big enough to hide something. Inside was a single book. It didn’t look like any of the other books in the library. Its cover was dark, almost black, and made of old leather that looked like cracked bark from a tree. The corners were worn down, and it had no title. Just a symbol. A silver moon. It shimmered faintly, even though the light in the library was dim.

The touch of unseen hands upon its surface sends a thrill coursing through the air as if stirring an ancient power. The title on the book's spine, written in elegant yet cryptic calligraphy, reads "Lumina Aeternus," translating to "Eternal Light." The words seem to glow with a soft, celestial radiance as if they hold the key to unlocking a universe of wonder and possibility. However, it wasn't the beauty of the book that lured and captivated her attention, rather it was the familiarity of it. She was certain she had come across the book before as a child. It was a book that fascinated her as a child, yet was never permitted to touch it.
