Right on cue, Lumi materialized from nowhere, apple two. “I found four more tiles. Also I stole Serina’s fan.”
Riley blinked. “Why?”
“So she can’t whisper behind it,” Lumi said, like it was obvious. She flicked the fan open: inside, along the slats, tiny ink sigils—neat noon runes, meant to soothe, to nudge, to make a ‘yes’ taste like virtue.
