“Running already?”
I froze, my heart lurching into my throat.
“I wasn’t running,” I said without turning around, my voice sharper than I intended.
Silas chuckled, low and rough, the sound sending a shiver down my spine. “You always were a terrible liar.”
I bit my lip, the sting of his words striking deeper than they should have. Slowly, I turned to face him. He was sitting up now, the sheet pooled around his waist, leaving his torso bare. His eyes, dark and unrelenting, locked onto mine.
