Chapter 14: The Dual-Link ​The hum of the hospital was different at 3:00 AM. In the daylight, it was a busy hive of white coats and professional lies, but in the dead of night, Room 103 felt like a hollowed-out skull. The amber "observation" lights cast long, skeletal shadows across the floor, and the only sound was the synchronized hiss-click of the dual-monitors tracking our lives.

He couldn't join her today because he couldn't risk leaving the unknown guest alone. Just as he was about turning to go back inside, he saw Lily. She had something in her mouth. A small backpack. She dropped it at his feet before walking inside. He picked it up and walked inside. After giving Lily a snack for her services, he opened the bag carefully. An empty water bottle, some empty wraps for granola bars and two unopened bars were the contents of the bag. He turned the bag over, shaking the bag vigorously. Nothing else was in the bag but amongst the wraps of granola bars, he noticed a small name tag depicting one name ... Kamara.

Making Ruby chuckle. "But honestly, that Madison is senseless."

She snorted out a little giggle at the end. "I don't see why you think this is amusing sister. We do not know if the dust has an after effect. I mean look at Eli for Goddess sake!" Xavier pointed at Eli who leaned against the closed door, his eyes nearly closing as he yawns. "Hey don't mind me, I just need to take a nap," Eli yawns again and shrugs. Chris shook his head while Lily rolled her eyes. Xavier's eyes turn foggy, showing that he was mind linking someone.

I immediately saved her number. Me: yeah sure. unknown: 9th XXX drive. I looked at the weather app on my phone to check if it was too cold to go, we were smack dab in the middle of October and if it was too cold then sorry. It was 56 degrees outside, I guess it wasn't too cold. Me: kk.
