Shadows of the Moon
The classroom was dimly lit, the only light filtering through the tall windows, casting long shadows across the desks. Charlie, Ethan, Maya, and Liam sat in a row, their eyes glued to the clock on the wall, the second hand ticking away the last few minutes of fifth period. The teacher droned on about lunar phases, but their minds were elsewhere, the day had dragged on and now they were merely minutes away from free period.
Charlie leaned over to Ethan, whispering just above a breath, “These last five minutes can not possibly go by any slower.” Her voice was barely audible, but the urgency and annoyance in her tone was clear.
