Dimitri’s POV I didn’t even get a chance to tell Ellie not to hug me. Maddie and I just marked each other so our protective and possessive instincts were even higher than usual. I knew how Maddie would react because I would have done the same if a man hugged her. To be honest, I wasn’t even comfortable with her being in the same room as Will. I would explode if he touched her. Ellie let go of me immediately. She looked at my neck and her eyes widened.

Simultaneously, we all (except for Ryder) shout "surprise!" which was my idea. Lexie stands frozen in place. Her face a mixture of confusion and shock. As Maddie rushes forward with her arms spread ready for a hug, a smile tugs on the corner of Lexie's mouth.

Still smiling, I disentangle her arms from around my knees and crouch down on my knees so we’re eye level. The movement sends a sharp, protesting ache up my ribs, but I force the discomfort down. Right now, being here, comforting her, it's what I need. “Hey, peaches.” I cup her wet cheeks and brush a stray tear away with my thumb. She sniffles as another one makes its way down. I don’t miss the look Maureen has on her face as she takes in the exchange. “I missed you." Maddie doesn't say anything at first, then she throws her arms around my neck and hugs me. Her small shoulders shake as she sobs, and I do my best to comfort her by stroking her hair.

She was so eager to see her man that she did not waste her time knocking. She opened the door quickly and stepped inside. But as soon as her gaze moved inside the room, her entire body froze. A woman was hugging Bryan. Sophia slowly let go of the doorknob as she was in a state of shock. The door shut behind her. As if she had heard the sound, the woman broke the hug and turned around. “Goodnight love.” Ariel listened for his footsteps until he was out of the room, and she exhaled. It was going to be a torturous stay. We could hear the screams coming out from the windows, and she stood up, moving towards the window, and she looked down at them. All of the pack members were around, and with her improved sight, we could make out their faces. Toby was standing beside Maddie, and although there was a little gap between them, no one would doubt they were together. But what shocked her was seeing Liza holding hands with a man she had never seen before.

The warmth of his little body against hers made all the exhaustion of the day disappear. Adrian stood nearby, watching them with a soft smile. He hadn’t seen Nadine this happy in a long time. Just as Nadine pulled back to look at Liam’s cheerful face, she felt another pair of arms wrap around them. It was Adrian. He hugged both of them at once, holding them close as if he never wanted to let go. Liam giggled in excitement. “Mommy, Daddy, we are a big hug sandwich!” he said, making them laugh.

That surprised her, she had certainly become more sensitive to that. Maddie laughed unintentionally again, his presence and strange statements always lightened the energy in her. ‘You'll get my present later,’ he suddenly whispered in her ear. ‘ She looked up at him in surprise, but he was already walking on. Raven hugged Rodolf as if he already knew him and Esmee also received a heartfelt hug. It was a pleasant get-together and Maddie was happy to get away from all the mystery and strange practices. She enjoyed the celebration. They ate, laughed, and even danced to the strange tunes that Raven could elicit from a lute. Thom and her father returned home when it was allready evening.

“Maddie’s utterly obsessed with you.” “Well I am utterly obsessed with my boyfriend Oliver Langley.” I look over to my right and found Maddie already sitting next to me. She kisses my lips and I wince as I felt hurt from dad’s punch. “Hi baby.” I say over her lips. She smiles before turning her attention to Liv, “Is there something wrong with being obsessed with my own man?” She asks him. “Well hi Maddie. It’s nice to see you too.” Liv answers with a smile.

Kiara: “Hey” Maddie said peeking her head through the bedroom’s door. Turning my attention to her, I forced myself to smile and nodded at her to come inside. “Hi” I smiled at her, standing up from the floor. I was sitting on the floor with my back resting against the couch. Her eyes met mine and she sighed wrapping her arms around my neck. Hugging me tightly as she did and I embraced her hug. Thankful for her being there for me.
