“What—?” He rattled it harder. The knob clanged uselessly against the latch. “It’s locked.”
“That’s impossible,” I whispered, my stomach dropping. “This door is never locked. Never.”
Liam cursed under his breath, low and vicious. He braced himself, then slammed his shoulder against the door. The wood groaned but held. He tried again, harder.
“Move,” he growled, shoving me aside. He drove into it with brutal force. With a splintering crack, the lock burst, the door crashing open against the wall.
