My vision blurred as they lifted me out, my head rolling weakly against the pillow. “Mrs. Warren, we’ve got you,” one of them said kindly. “Try to stay calm. He’s been my wife’s doctor.” “I’m sorry, Mr. Warren,” one nurse said, adjusting the IV line on my arm. “Dr. Leonard Hale isn’t in today. He’s attending a conference in Boston. We’ll have another doctor check on your wife immediately.”

You allowed another sister to die in your place, and you even tried to sell off your own daughter, simply for being what she was meant to be."

“Tell me that’s not the same Hale.” He didn’t answer right away, and that was answer enough. “Who is she?” I asked. “Who is Dolores Hale?” His eyes came to mine. “She’s on Damien’s payroll,” he said. “He owns her.”
