I demanded. Damien walked out from behind a tree back in his human form. Mates are a wolf’s other half, the one that will complete the missing half of their heart. Our soulmate. He explained. “What… What is that feeling, Everett?” A ghost of a smile appeared on his plump, dark rosy lips. “It’s called a mating bond,” He explained slowly. “Mating bond?” Kallen nodded. “Yes. It’s basically a werewolves intuition that you are our soulmate,” “Soulmate?” I questioned and they nodded. Kallen looked like a giddy little kid as he sat on the edge of the couch and Everett, cool as ever, took a deep breath like he was expecting the worst. “And what do you mean our?”

That’s a mate.” I blinked. “So… a soulmate?” She shook her head. “No darling, soulmate is soft. Cute. Romantic. Mate is… violent destiny. Mate is permanent. Mate is stick-to-you-like-glue energy. Mate is ‘if you die, I die’ nonsense. Mate is a cosmic marriage contract signed with magical blood and no human consent form.” I stared at her. She stared back. “That sounds like kidnapping with extra toppings,” I said. “Welcome to the supernatural world,” she replied.

Hecate was in deep thought as she rested on the roof near the window. Before she knew it, she was struck on the wing. She fell down the three-story building.
