Honestly, I got lost in my mind that I missed all the Bible principle of marriage but at least I heard something, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

A pulse of warmth—not heat, not fire, but something like memory—radiated through me. “You’re mine now,” he whispered. “And I’ll show you what it means to love a devil.” And then everything went black—but this time, not from pain. "W—what about my baby, please?" I begged. "It's gone, Yasmine," he said, and the way he muttered my name was too fucking perfect, like I wasn't just at the face of death. The words sliced cleaner than any fall. Gone. My baby—gone. My arms curled around emptiness, and I didn’t even scream. There was nothing left in me to scream with.

Her trembling hands curled into fists at her sides. His hand lifted, lightly grazing her jaw. "You love me," he murmured, a devilish edge to the calm warmth in his voice. "You want me. More than you think, more than you can ever admit." He pressed just a fraction closer, a whisper away from her lips, but his hands never moved further. Subtle. Controlled. Devastating. "You cannot run from this." His voice dropped lower, almost a growl, and every word seemed to etch itself into her very bones. "And you cannot resist me. Not now. Not ever."

It was not the laughter of someone mocking fate but the laughter of someone who knows that grace has a sense of humor. Truly “Love is the flame of God. Many waters cannot quench the power of love. It felt different, it felt holy, it felt sacred like God has placed His signature upon it and I could only wish we had saved it all for this moment.

It wasn't right. “He did love me. He still does. He has to.” She said quickly, the last bit to herself. “He just doesn’t realize it. He was too blind. Too mundane by then, corrupted by thoughts of your mother here, in the human world. He thinks love has to be soft and sweet. That it looked like lullabies and holding hands. What rubbish. But love – real love – is fire. It’s devotion. It’s standing beside someone when no one else will.”

And in the quiet wind that trailed behind them down the road, the world came to mind with a simple truth to believe: Love, once it is genuinely and freely decided upon, is the greatest medicine of all. To be continued...
