Turning my head to where the sound had emerged out of nowhere, I saw a man with grey hair crowning the top of his head, and hands on his waist waiting for my response.
"Excuse me," I managed to say through my clogged throat.
For a little while or more he stood there as a statue, completely ignoring my presence, looking around him as though not quite sure I was the only one in the corridor.
