I was dressed in a comfortable summer dress and the flowers in my hair made me look like some kind of creature from a fairy tale. I met with the children who were all excited about grabbing a piece of cake and joining me for story time. Each year, I read them the story about the dragon king and the werewolf princess falling in love. I thought they would eventually get bored with the book, but they never did. Each year, all the children would gather around me and wait eagerly to hear the story.

The kids giggled every time one of the Horts cracked a joke or made a funny face, while Dominic sat quietly, one arm draped protectively around Winnie’s shoulders. The Horts led Elara and Finn through glowing forests, across rivers that sparkled, and into caves filled with shining gems. Each adventure brought new challenges that required the siblings to solve riddles or help others along the way. The visuals were whimsical, and the storyline, full of small lessons about kindness and hope, kept Lila captivated.
