He wrapped his hand over the cord and bared his teeth at a god.
“Not yours,” he growled.
Osiris covered our hands with his, big and sure. “Ours.”
Lefu’s palm came down atop theirs, fingers steady as vows. “Hers.”
Balor caged the knot beneath his brutal grip and pushed his forehead to mine. “Mine,” he rumbled, then lower, breaking, “and I am hers.”
The chamber brightened.
Not with witchlight. With something warm and old and furious at the idea of being broken. The braid of our bond cinched cinched cinched until the knot sang against all our palms, a pure note that made the black veins in the stone recoil like living things scalded.
