She follows behind Selene wagging her tail. My vision starts to get lighter as I sense myself waking up. I start to feel unbearable pain and a groan escapes my lips. “She’s waking. Thank goddess.” I hear Mama say.

The Isle of Myrren was unnaturally quiet that morning. A thick blanket of fog hung low, barely drifting. Even the waves against the jagged cliffs whispered instead of crashing. Deep in the stone dungeon of the ancient fort, Serena lay still on the cold ground, her body curled up beneath the thin blanket they’d allowed her. Her eyes were closed, but she wasn’t asleep. She hadn’t truly slept in days—not since she began attempting to communicate through the mind-link and learning to detach her soul from her body.

A soft warmth spread outward, a rhythm older than galaxies.

"Don't tell me this is some kind of your fucking plan so you can prove that she is not a human..." Elizabeth glared at serenity. "This bitch is nothing but just a human..." Elizabeth tried to grab her throat but serenity gripped her hand in mid air. "I am not a human... And certainly not a bitch..." Elizabeth froze in shock as serenity talked with a calm and sweet voice. No one could tell that she is angry, her voice was like a melody, so pure that one could compel the flowers to bloom and the sun to rise from West. The triplets mouth dropped open as they heard her for the first time. Her melodious voice was like blessing to their ears but they were alert.

Serenity nods, her voice is demonic, “I would like that.” My body stands and Grace pushes me towards Serenity, she mind links her, “my sweet girl, I will see you soon, go now and be free.” My hands cup her jaws, her canines long and sharp as she smiles at me. Grace falls back into my mind and I smile at her, “be free and happy during your last days.” Liam and I stand at the entrance to the castle as we watch Serenity run to the tree line of the frozen wilderness. A burden lifts from my chest, and I feel as though I breathe again.
