“How can my mate… my mate… be my enemy? No, no, this can’t be happening. The Moon God wouldn’t do this to me!” Tears welled in her eyes, blurring her vision. She turned and ran to her room, collapsing onto her bed, burying her face in the soft covers as sobs wracked her body. “I searched for my mate… my whole life, I searched,” she choked out between cries. “And now he’s here, standing before me… but I can’t accept him. I can’t, because he’s my enemy. He came here to kill, not to claim me.”

I said to him, he probably hadn't noticed that yet. “We literally grew up in the same house and she was one of the first to support me when I became Alpha so we do have a a special relationship,” he said honestly, I was happy that he had her support. True to what she had said earlier Maya acted like his older sister. “I am very grateful to have met someone like her in my lifetime,” I said honestly, with the type of relationship I have had with people, she felt like a safe place. “I am glad you don't feel so alone anymore,” he said, planting a kiss on my cheek as I ate.

“Yes, I do.” Maia nodded. Amanda still didn’t quite understand it, “Are you a friend of my brother? I don’t think he knew any women in his life. It’s just me and his mom.” “I’m friends with Marcus. I asked again, "What is my connection with him? Is he my best friend? Cousin? Brother?" Pressing his lips together, he let out the word, "Mate!"

I mean it's literally the worst day of my life. I publicly embarrassed my best friend and I got a male mate as reward for bad behavior, so yeah I can't forget that day. "Yeah, that's the one."

I bite my lip and try to think of the perfect mate. "She is special if she puts up with you". Brian laughs and Liam joins him. My best friends are so immature. Smiling in satisfaction I lay my head back and think of my mate.

"I don't think I can," she stated, scratching the back of her head. "I have work and I think you guys hang out somewhere expensive. I wouldn't afford water there."
