It was soft, light, and sweet enough to dissolve the tension in the air.
Regan blinked.
“…He’s part of the mafia, isn’t he?” she asked, her eyes bright with curiosity rather than fear. “That’s why you’re all being so careful.”
Regan stared at her, momentarily caught off guard by how calmly she had said it.
Most people reacted with shock. Or fear. Or questions filled with unease.
Marceline, however, only tilted her head slightly.
“But… he didn’t feel like one,” she added softly.
Regan blinked. “Didn’t… feel like one?”
