“Why Are you so careless and clumsy that you almost got us imprisoned for the rest of our lives or worse, get sentenced to death? You should use your brain, Susan. I won't help you next time this kind of thing happens. I got you a ticket. Get home, take your bath, and carry your bag. You'll need to go to the airport immediately because your flight is in a few hours.” “Where am I going?” “Africa.” “What, I can't—” “you would do exactly as I am telling you unless you want to go back into that pothole.” I kept quiet for the rest of the ride. I didn't want to go back there and I didn't want to go to Africa. I have no idea where I was headed in Africa. Why didn't he buy a ticket for Morocco or Ca

“Dakari has escaped!” The room froze and all conversations stopped. The great hall was full of group leaders strategizing and ego’s were getting bruised as ideas were discarded as folly as soon as they were spoken. Katalea had been trying to inspire cohesive brainstorming when Maggie exploded in the room. “He sent me a message, the little slave girl he had told me about helped him escape. He said they had passed a death sentence on him and she had gotten him out with hours to spare. He is weak, and he still doesn’t know where he is. He says they are hidden, but then he was gone. I came as fast as I could.”

“Magic is forbidden in Hala. This would deeply affect my father’s position as Tribe Leader if everyone knew her daughter practicing the water magic.” “Let’s only think of how we can safely travel to Baraf. You have seen the atrocities of the Escape Hunters here,” Seti said. Travion cleared his throat. “Leave it to me. I will provide a group of warriors to escort us.” Malaika nodded. Until now, she could not believe she was reunited with her friends. And just like her, she could tell they had been through hell in Axum. VALIN and Madar flew in their bird form nonstop to reach Hala immediately. And just as the captain thought, the Chieftain was already mobilizing the army.

The foot connected, knocking Chase onto the ground once again. The men started laughing as they watched him lied there, and then one of them said, "Have you had enough, or do you want us to cripple you before you come to your senses." Slapping the glass, Jada screamed, "No! Please don't! I will go with you." The men eyed each other, and then one said to the two men on the right, "Go get her." As they approached the vehicle, Chase reached for a stone and crawled to his feet, spitting his blood to the floor.

At least with Eliana nearby Luca’s mind would be otherwise occupied. The two ladies smiled brightly as they saw us, waving as we came closer until we pulled the boat onto the sand. “Oh look, Cassie,” Eliana giggled, using her hand like a fan. “Some big, strong, Mediterranean men are coming to rescue us!” Cassandra threw her friend a puzzled look which was cut short by Luca who swept his mate up into his arms and gave her a kiss. Smiling at what would probably be seen as an adorable action, she looked away and her eyes met mine before she quickly looked away.

“The same person who tried to kill you and Carl took a bullet for you?” “yes.” “ My mother and I were captured; tortured , and abused …” “ When did it happen? I am so sorry.” “ Its okay.” “ A month before the accident that made her fly back to South Africa .” Cleo blinked and wiped her tears. “Hey I am okay.” She held my hand and I kissed the back of her hand and wiped a tear. “ You don’t have to tell me if you aren’t ready.” “ with you I am ready for anything . I can even relocate here.”

“Take me somewhere far away. From my father. From this country.” For a second, he searched my eyes. Then he nodded. “Alright.” Right then, several black vans sped past us, creating chaos. They swerved aggressively, blocking police vehicles and causing collisions. Maria steered sharply into a tunnel and parked. “A tunnel?” I muttered in shock. Outside the tunnel entrance, I saw the private jet waiting. Armed guards stood near it. My escape to France. My cage. Lucifer helped me out of the van. I looked at the plane… then at him.

“We aren’t just going out dancing. We are going out to get rip roaringly drunk and high off our rockers. These men are driving us fucking insane, so let’s do something insane. I know this place, we’ll be safe, promise.” “Okay.” She says hesitantly but gets up and gets ready. We stand and look at ourselves in the mirror. Chiara’s mood is already better. “God we’re hot.” I say. “We are.” She agrees while playing with her hair. “Let’s go.” I grab my purse. We manage to sneak out, unseen. I hail a cab and we head to the club. The line is huge. “We’re never getting in.” Chiara says. “Who said we’re waiting in line?”

On the way I messaged my contact from my pack, Hannah, to tell her I had left. In the taxi, I actually felt relieved that he had insisted that the wedding be small, and I did not even tell my clan he had asked me to become his mate. This saved me from dealing with the disgrace of running away. As I entered the airport, I decided to call Alex. I felt I owed him at least that much—to tell him our bond was over. He never picked up the call but sent me an angry voice message back. "Just get to my pack; the Oracle is waiting. Something happened to Elsa, so I will be a bit late. Why are you acting as though I will be running away?"
