“What are you guys doing here?” Kayoko ran up and lunged at Damian unceremoniously, jumping into Damian's arms shamelessly. That made Damian growl in annoyance. “Don't do dangerous things like this, Kayoko.” Kayoko just grinned widely. “Don't you want to invite this boyfriend of yours to eat together?” Damian glanced sarcastically at Kayoko. “Watch your language.” He immediately put Kayoko down with ease. “Greet my little wife nicely. Her name is Miya and I hope you don't act up, Kayoko.”

The darkness of the surrounding forest seemed to close in on us as he led me deeper into the unknown, our footsteps crunching in the undergrowth as we pressed forward. We stopped abruptly when we saw a woman standing in front of a raging fire, her back turned to us and another woman, who sat beside Alice close to the fire. The woman was chanting in a language I couldn't understand. My heart skipped a beat when I recognized her as Alice, and the other woman, my mother, her hair wild and unkempt in the firelight. I couldn't see her face. Alice raised a bloody organ, a heart, which I guessed was from the monster Ryan had talked about, in one hand and a knife in the other.

She stormed out, slamming the door behind her. My mother finally turned to me, her expression hard and unyielding. “When you’re done playing your games, remember we’re visiting your Luna’s family tomorrow evening. Don’t embarrass me.” I raised an eyebrow, crossing my arms over my chest. “Noted,” I said. Left alone, I turned back to the city, my mother’s words echoing in my mind. I hated the idea of a mate bond. Love was a weakness, a distraction I couldn’t afford. But even as I tried to push it aside, curiosity crept in.

I was just about to press the button a third time when Lyra tugged at my sleeve, a spark of excitement in her eyes. “She’s coming,” she whispered. And sure enough, after a few moments, faint footsteps echoed from inside, gradually growing louder until they stopped just behind the door. The door opened slowly, revealing a woman with sharp eyes and a poised demeanor. From the stern yet curious look on her face, we knew immediately that this was Professor Kira. “Hello, may I help you?” she asked, her voice cool and measured. “Hi, I’m George, and this is my girlfriend, Lyra. She’s a huge fan of your work,” I introduced, glancing at Lyra, who offered a warm smile and an enthusiastic nod.

'Moon goddess sure knows how to mess with someone. Kai's casual posture stiffened, his drink forgotten as he processed the words. His eyes widened, shock rippling across his face. 'What do you mean? Wait—don't tell me she's your mate?' He set the glass down hard, the sound echoing in the quiet room. Leaning closer, he pressed, 'But how do you know?'

Astra's POV Mary was the older kitchen staff, the middle-aged woman who served me coffee every morning. There was nothing so special about her except that she was my favorite kitchen staff and the only person allowed to serve me coffee. She knew just my taste. My black coffee with no milk and minimal sugar. She gets it each time and I just knew I wanted her to take care of my coffee ever since and she's served me diligently. Never had a reason to question her except now...

The monster was in chains. "Well," Madam Choi said, placing her cup down. She stood up and adjusted her silk scarf. "That went better than expected. I suppose I should call the board members. We need to prepare a press release about Min’s sudden... health decline or maybe death?" She walked toward the desk, already dismissing Hoon, already moving on to the coronation. "Make sure you clean up the mess in the basement quickly, Hoonie. I don't want the smell to linger in the house."

One of the maid who was wearing a ponytail spoke to Mary and pointed towards the third floor using her index finger. The other maid who had a bun on her head nodded continued her words, "We are not allowed to go to the third floor. Let anything happen, let any noise come by, even if someone is shouting, scolding or let anything happen we maids are not allowed to go to the third floor." Even though Mary was curious regarding the fact why, she did not question them as she knew that being a maid, they were only supposed to obey rules and not ask anything.
