Mage: The Ascension Book Novels & Stories

(Magi’s Pov) Magi climbed the narrow spiral of the Mage Tower slowly, one hand resting against the stone wall as she ascended. The tower was old, older than most of the written histories, its steps worn shallow by centuries of careful feet. The air grew thinner the higher she went, not colder exactly, but charged, as though the tower itself listened. She had called the mages and Aurora away from the celebrations as they had a task to perform. She carried the stone wrapped in a simple cloth.

Aslan’s voice sounded, making me realize that Zarina was the one who had used magic to stop me. “This little girl has grown very bold. Lock her up in the room and make sure to add a shield so that she can’t use magic.” I was taken aback by Tyson’s cold voice. No, I was NOT going to let them keep me against my will anymore. Closing my eyes, I focused all my energy to teleport. ASLAN’S POV I was stunned to see Aurora vanish right in front of my eyes. “How the hell did she do that!? Even Zarina can’t perform magic against your will inside this palace. It is shielded by the world’s most powerful magic which works according to YOUR will!”

She’d left as quickly and quietly as she’d arrived. Pausing only briefly to ponder on the mysteries of Maggie, she settled herself back onto the sofa to further investigate the treasured book before her. She found connotations for invoking both good and evil spirits, as well as one to raise the dead. This surprised her. Why would Maggie’s ancestors want to conjure and evil spirit or raise the dead?

“Children of the gods, Alphas of the shifters, by the power of the gods I pronounce you king and queen.” Lucien dipped his thumb in the blood residue from the bowl and made a mark on my crown; he then did the same to Mathias and began speaking in the same language Odeia and the priests used in Avalon. I felt a humming, a buzz through my body, a vibration in my bones, almost the same feeling I would get when holding my swords. Magic of the gods.

Joanna asked, moving back to his side. He smiled. "Jasmine needs to go to the dragon realm," he said and carefully turned the pages of the book until he found the page he wanted. To me, he said, "Your mom created realms for the creatures of the seven magics after she defeated Sharra the first time. You know that?" he asked. "Of course." It was taught at the Academy, though I'd never heard of a dragon realm. Just add that to the list of things I didn't know existed, including an angel realm.

We watched as the witches started their trek across the plains. Magnus and Ares approached us then. "We are all set to depart," Magnus said gruffly. Tor gripped Magnus by the arm. "Thank you." Then he turned to Ares and gave him a powerful hug. "Without your help…" Tor started, looking between the two of them shaking his head. Ares put up his hand. "Never be afraid to come knocking if there is some a*s to kick," Ares said with a laugh. Tor nodded with a smile. "Thanks again."

The library was always my sanctuary, a place where I could escape reality and lose myself in the pages of a good book. As I wandered through the aisles, I came across a book that caught my eye. It was titled "The Mystics of Lycans". Intrigued, I pulled it off the shelf and flipped through the pages. The words were unfamiliar, and I struggled to make sense of them. They seemed to be in a language I had never seen before. "Zephyrion milarath velindreth, thalorion symphoria. Ancalima thranduil caladron."

Alpha Fenrir raised a hand, his voice firm as he issued a command to his companions. "We should intervene," I whispered to Lycidas, my voice tinged with concern for Maya's well-being. Lycidas hesitated, his gaze fixed on Maya below. "Not yet. We need to wait and see what they're planning." We remained hidden in the shadows, our eyes trained on the scene unfolding before us. Alpha Fenrir and his viziers began to chant in unison, their voices weaving together in a strange, hypnotic melody. Maya thrashed against her restraints, her movements growing more frantic as the magic took hold.

He watched as his Alpha's shoulders stiffened. I'm fine. Just keep your attention on the group she came with. I want to know everything they say and do. I want to know everything. Came the growl through the mind link. Reese nodded even though his alpha wasn't looking at him. Yes sir. Almost as though the book held secrets that felt almost wrong of me to try to divulge. But I opened it anyway. This wasn't like the other journal. This one had no name. Just endless pages and pages of sketches. The first none was a crown of coral and bone, with blood being tipped over it from a golden goblet. I supposed this particular one was a symbol of his ascension that never got to happen. There was another of a sea serpent being curled around a skull, with a phrase written below it. "He waits in the deep." I murmured. I shook my head and turned to another mage.
