The Mage's Heart

The Mage's Heart

“I would sense the magic if it were so.” I dismounted and unsaddled Coryfe as the mage sat on one of the branches of the fallen tree and drew from a bag he wore under his cloak, a small book, bound in leather, with curls of metal protecting the corners and clasping the covers shut. “We need a fire,” he said to me, his fingers stroking the cover reverently. There was no writing on the cover or binding, but I could see something had been embossed into the leather. Perhaps the embossing was the shadow of writing that had once been picked out with ink, but which time had faded or flaked away.

A brilliant adult fairy tale! Dark romance, fairies, sirens, mages, dragons, dark elves, mermaids, trolls, imps, spells, and quests. I loved it, an action packed adventure from beginning to end. Folk lore and fae stories truly came alive, I fell in love with the characters and got lost in the story.

What Hell May Come

What Hell May Come

Not that Jon had anything to say to her. The day had been taken up by this seemingly fruitless search, until in the dingiest part of the store, in a crumbling red book published in 1900, he found the name. The Book of Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage was filled with weird double-talk, esoteric terms, confusing graphics, and yawn-inducing florid language, but the name was there—as was his invocation.

Rejected by My Mate, Fated to the Lycan King

Rejected by My Mate, Fated to the Lycan King

Yesterday had gone well, but there’d been a moment where it was touch and go and my blood runs cold every time I think about what could have happened if I lost control and the mages got their powers back. “What’s wrong?” Soren finally asks with a small frown. I’ve been pacing like a caged tiger and he’s been very patiently trying to ignore me while attempting to read. Hilda found the book in the huge library Arlo’s pack has tucked away in an underground fortress and tasked him with checking whether it contains anything useful. Apparently we’re not the first werewolves to have a run-in with mages. The book is titled: Illusions and How to Dispel them. So far it hasn’t offered up anything of pr

Mr. President Has A Baby Bump

Mr. President Has A Baby Bump

It not like it’s normal see someone on fire was normal but he said nothing. I will think about that later not now. I do not go to my dorm. I go straight to the library. The forbidden section smells old and heavy, like dust and secrets layered on top of each other. I search shelf after shelf, pulling out books on elemental magic, ancient bloodlines, cursed abilities, fire wielders, forbidden hybrids. Nothing matches. Nothing talks about blue fire. Frustration claws at my chest until my fingers brush against a thick, worn book shoved far back on a lower shelf.

Tears Of A Broken Omega

Tears Of A Broken Omega

The thought came out in a shaky breath as I kept reading. Because werewolves were physically stronger and far greater in number, the mages were on the losing end. Even with their abilities, using magic drained them, making their powers almost useless in an active war zone. Which led some of them to seek out something forbidden… I paused as I turned the page, only to find it jumped to an entirely different creature. My eyes scanned it once. Then again. And that’s when i realized the remaining pages had been ripped out. A growl rose in my chest the second it sank in, and before I could stop myself, I grabbed the book and hurled it across the room.

When the Alpha Howls

When the Alpha Howls

Like I was shopping for bedtime stories instead of trying to decide whether my life had cracked open into impossibility. “Thank you,” I murmured. The folklore section was tucked into a quiet corner near a window that looked out toward the forest. Of course it did. The books there were a strange little army: weathered hardcovers, thin local history pamphlets, glossy paperbacks with titles involving moons and curses and women who looked poorly dressed for weather. I started with the serious looking ones. Northern Appalachian Folk Beliefs, Predator Myths of the American East, Silver, Salt, and Blood: Ritual Materials in Regional Lore. I pulled them down one by one, making a stack against my che

I say gifted because it literally fell out of the shelf packed with fantasy and folklore books, and right on top of my head as we walked past. The title makes my theory even more concrete. Half Mating: History and Magic. The Lore of a Uno-bind. Silence stretches between us after I ask the question, and then Brie cuts through it with a voice slightly higher-pitched than usual. "You're awfully invested in that book. What exactly are you looking for?" At the sound of her voice, I raise my head, locking eyes on her slitted pair. I fake a smile and flip the book shut with far more force than is necessary.

Bloodline Redemption

Bloodline Redemption

Now that she was taken care of, I had some digging to do. No one would do that. Not in their right mind. I had to put some faith in my mate’s parents but I was staring down a barrel filled with the realizations I’d come to in the last hour and they were somewhat undeniable. The first book I came to I knew cover to cover. I’d read it before I started medicine, it was what made me want to become a doctor. Supernatural Medicine. It was old, practically ancient by human standards. It contained information on all supernaturals instead of werewolf specific. Its the book I consulted for the fairy incident because it spoke of what kind of fairy, her magic and the antidote. Now, I was looking in the

I didn’t even have a wolf. The next book, The History of Gifts, looked promising. I sat down on the floor and opened it carefully, trying not to get my hopes too high. There were chapters about mind links, healing powers, even wolves that could talk to animals… but not a single word about silver fire. Or glowing fingers. Or dreams about strange women with snow-white hair. I let out a long breath, the kind that made your shoulders sag. I felt tired. Like the answers I wanted were still too far away.
