"Who the hell do you think you are a girl?" Glaring at him, my hand tightened around the dagger. "You dare torture a symbol of our hope?" I hissed. Laughing, the guard turned to a few other men that had gathered. "I'll say my question again." Leaning closer, his breath fanned over my face. "Who the hell... do you think you are, girl?" Raising the dagger to his throat, I felt anger seep into my veins. My body started to tingle as my vision became clearer. "I am Abagail Stone. Dragon Rider of Aurora." Pushing the blade closer to his throat, I watched his eyes move to my left.

I felt weakened and vulnerable as I fell on Rider's knees. "Now, release my son," I demanded, my voice trembling with emotion. Rider Storm laughed, a harsh and mocking sound. "Do you really think I would keep my word?" he sneered. "You are a fool, Magnus." Without warning, Savana lifted her hand, unleashing a surge of dark magic that knocked me to the ground. Amidst the chaos, I heard Lara's panicked cries as she raced to my side.

The dark tendrils of his magic withered and died as they approached the sacred stones. Ryder growled with irritation, his plan failing. But I could see he was really trying to think of a different way to change the result of the fight. Out of nowhere, he began talking in a language I didn't understand. The words felt weird and made me feel uneasy, almost like they were leaving a sticky feeling on my skin. I noticed the hairs on my neck standing up, realizing he was doing some kind of magic – and from the bad energy around him, it wasn't going to be good.

His technique was like an intricate dance of physics and intuition. One he wrote for a particular little mage that had been teasing him below the breeches.”

As Nomar said this, he smiled at how his words seemed to jolt Alexander from his reverie. Alexander was startled. He raised his head up from the floor and looked around. This was no play. This person meant his words. He meant for him to rise up like a man. Suddenly, Alexander started to believe that magic still existed. Who else but a magician could speak this loud and clear in his mind that it would boom like this? It had to be magic. He raised his head up further and looked around for the person whose voice had sounded in his mind.

He didn't know if he could ever be accustomed to the terms used in this world. "Yes. Right now we can only feel your presence as a human. Princess Anna must have sealed it to hide you. However, your blood as a mage must be so strong that it could resist Princess Anna's spell, that's why there were times, as you've noticed, when something weird were happening to you." "Why would you know what was happening to me back there?"

“As am I.” “You won’t send me back. I won’t go back there.” “Well, then, sweetheart, you best out run me,” Rider replied. Once the words were out, Raven wasted no time. She made a mental leap, likely hoping to either rematerialize in her own realm, where her physical body awaited her and Rider wouldn’t easily be able to follow, or into another stream of consciousness. Rider lunged for her just as she began to dissipate. If he could stay close enough to her, eventually he would catch up, and if he was lucky, he could grab ahold of her long enough to say the incantation that would send her to Hell.

Then, Mercy took off after Rider. She wasn’t going to catch him by running after him, though. He was a male, for one thing, so he was naturally faster than her. Also, he was an Alpha, so he was stronger, more muscular, bigger than she could ever hope to be. No, if she was going to get him, she’d have to use the one advantage she had over him–over everyone. Her magic. Once she entered the forest, Mercy felt out into the woods for Rider and almost instantly found him about fifty feet in front of her. Using her powers, she sent a pulse of power toward him. She heard him shout as it hit him, and then she began to reel him back in.

This was betrayal of position, and abandonment of duty. Magnus gestured to the bike behind him. “It functions very well. The speed can make you disappear.” He smirked slightly. “Are you ready to disappear?” I hesitated. Thought about Eli sleeping in that bed, fragile and recovering. But he needed his mother. I couldn’t keep lying to him that everything was okay when it wasn’t. I nodded. “I’m ready.” The flashback came unbidden. Earlier today, when I’d asked Magnus for this help. “I can’t take my alpha bike,” I’d told him. “It carries sigils. Enchantments. Territorial markings. Stormclaw trackers, witches, sentries… they’d detect it instantly.”
