When we arrived, the place was nothing like the haunted-house version of a magician's home I had imagined. Instead, it looked like a serene paradise. The moment I stepped out of the car, I felt an indescribable sense of comfort, a calmness that allowed me to relax and enjoy the peace. I instantly understood why the old magician was so determined to protect this tranquility. Captivated by the surroundings, I didn't realize I was blocking Neil and Harry, who were still inside the car.

In fact, John had always felt a little suspicious about curses moving. The old magician heard John mention the curse, the old magician's cheeks trembled, his pupils also trembled. The old mage suddenly raised his voice, his hand holding the wooden staff suddenly exerted force "Shut up!! Don't you have any business? What's the point of asking this? Do you have a fretime?"

“I’m the one with the magic, not her.” “Really?” Minerva cooed as she moved away from Olga and closer to Arthur. “Are you a true magician or simply a wannabe? Tell me. What can you do? I might spare your life if you can show me that you’re worth something.”

“I would think that magic trumps venom.” “You think wrong,” Ben said with angst. “I am always surprised by the ignorance of mankind when it comes to magic. It is not a get out of jail free card. It’s more like a hacksaw to help you get out on your own. Or, perhaps a nail file. It all depends upon the strength and knowhow of the magician.” “I thought magicians were practically invincible,” Jasper said with surprise. Ben’s expression was a mixture of frustration and sorrow as he said, “If that were the case, I’d be in that castle rescuing Lila right now.”

“You know, the risk of injuring myself or dying seems to have been my constant companion lately.” The magician in front of me widened his eyes in amazement, and a wry smile crossed his lips. “I understand.” Denver stood up and sat at the edge of the circle in front of me. “It's clear that you understand the risks. So, we'll start channeling the magic. When all the circles are illuminated with their unique shades, you will repeat the incantation I will utter.” I nodded, crossing my legs and raising my hands, mimicking the magician's gestures.

Hope surged through me. I ran faster, the promise of safety fueling my every step. Freedom was within reach. But then, without warning, a powerful force slammed into me, sending me sprawling. I crashed to the ground, the air knocked from my lungs. I looked up, my heart sinking. The magician stood before me, his eyes glittering with amusement. He chuckled, a cold, mocking sound. "Impressive, Elena," he said, his voice smooth and deceptively gentle. "I must admit, I underestimated your determination. But escaping me? My dear, that was simply impossible."

"A mechanic." "That's right." Ethan sighed and took the last riddle. "A magician promises that he can throw a ball as hard as he can and have it stop, change direction and come back to him. He claims he can do it without the ball bouncing off of anything, the ball being tied to anything, or the use of magnets. How is it possible?" He read slowly as if what he just read was completely foreign to him. He scratched his head and gave various answers but none of them were right. Soon he was frustrated as his time neared its end.

The old man sat cross legged on one and motioned for me to sit on the other. "Call your magic" "Huh?" this guy is crazy. I was starting to regret my decision to train with him. "I already told you before. The magic is you. Imagine it as a blanket covering you and order it to do your bidding." I took his advice and imagined my magic like a blanket it was similar to the meditation sessions Selena drilled into me. I felt it spread over my body until it was like every hair on my body was standing on its end. The loud bang that shook the entire keep came like a bucket of water on me and I was shaken from my magically induced trance. Well this isn't good.

"So, you know how I was at the office party last night?" She nodded, still eyeing the lipstick stain suspiciously. "Well, it was the most bizarre thing," I continued, trying to sound convincing. "There was this magician performing, and he was doing all these mind-boggling tricks. At one point, he asked for a volunteer, and guess who he picked?" She raised an eyebrow, her curiosity momentarily piqued. "You?" I nodded eagerly, hoping to convince her. "Yes, exactly! Can you believe it? Anyway, he had me pick a card from the deck, and then he did this incredible disappearing act with it. Poof! The card was gone."

Sage said her voice dripping with sarcasm. Megan had grabbed his hand in hopes of relaxing him some. That’s when she felt the surge that ran through Justin. With a smile, she looked into his eyes searching for some answer to a question he didn’t know that he should have asked. “What?” He asked puzzled at her look. “Justin you have magic.” Explained Megan. She watched Justin as he tried to digest the information. “Wait. No, I have no idea what you are talking about.” Gasped Justin as he snatched his hand away.
