“Had you not, what?” He finishes the wine and rises. “Goodnight, Princess Fallon. I will see you again when we reach Meridem.” “Wait! I command–” Magnus slips into the shadows and disappears. I hear the echo of his steps going down a staircase. I slump back in my chair, peeved. I finish my wine and pour another glass and then motion for yet another bottle, and the poor deckhand heeds my every command for the next hour and a half until every move I make feels like I’m swimming in the thickest water imaginable.

Magnus muttered to himself as he searched the closest with his eyes, Itching a bit at his bare jaw. "Magnus there is no -" Magnus didn't let her finish her sentence before he cut her off. "Shush woman, I am trying to concentrate here," he told her as he kept on searching, his eyes landing on a velvet midi royal blue off shoulder gown. His eyes grew wide with excitement as she pulled it out. "This is it! Now go shower, I'll get the shoe and purse ready." He didn't wait for her to say anything or even give her some time to say anything before he pushed her into her bathroom, shutting the door behind her.

I'm out of gas.” I warned, jabbing a finger toward Maddox before he could open his mouth. He smirked anyway, all teeth and sin. “Wasn’t gonna. But damn, sweetheart, running out of gas? That’s a new one.”

I walked through it slowly. "The sequencing," I said when I reached the far end. "What about it?" "The last piece pulls you back to Year One. You exit through where you started but you see it differently." I turned. "Was that deliberate?" "Completely." "It works." She looked at the space with the satisfaction she had when something had landed exactly as planned. "The opening is Friday. Press preview Thursday." "I know." I came back to where she was standing. Looking amused, that I bumped into him. Musk. Manly aftershave scent. What? why? damn! It has been a really long time. I quickly tried to get around him but, he held my stance.
