My body aches but in a good way as I look at him. He wants me but can I allow him to have me? Years of training and pain to be a heretic thrown away for something that most likely won’t last! Chase stared at the person in front of him and said, "How dare a mere peak stage-four martial god show that much arrogance?!" "Tell me your name, loser. I don't kill unknowns," the man said with a cold grunt. Chase smiled tauntingly. He then spat out the words calmly, "A dead man doesn't need to know my name." "How dare you?!" the peak stage-four martial god grunted coldly. "Killing you will only dirty my hands." There was a flash in Chase's eye. He clenched his fist and struck with great strength and dominance. Chase and the stage-four martial god exchanged one move, and a wave swept out. The air contorted from the impact.

Magnus’ breathing turned ragged, his entire body trembling as he dug his fingers into his temples. His chest rose and fell in sharp, erratic movements, as though he was fighting something—something clawing to break free. “Magnus?” Frederick stepped closer, cautious but firm. “Talk to me.” Magnus’ head snapped up. His eyes—dark, unfocused—locked onto Frederick, and for a split second, there was no recognition. No warmth. Just something wrong.

Seeing me closer, Magnus finally flinched, his eyes wide with panic as he realized that his death was just seconds from reaching him. Alpha's fear quickened my heart rate, washing a wave of thrill. I challenged him. “Run!” And then, Magnus made the most idiotic decision of his life: he ran! He bolted, claws tearing up the ground, exciting me to break his every bone after a delicious chase. I threw my head back and howled, the sound ripping the sky apart. “You are so dead, Magnus.” In the same motion, I lunged. My leap carried me over the wolves, their snapping jaws missing my legs by inches. I barely touched the ground before pushing off again, and this time, landing exactly where I wanted.

My bones ached, my heart pounded, and then— The world shifted. Every sound dulled. Every breath felt distant. I lifted my head and saw through layers of flame and shadow. The forest, the patrols, the stone walls—everything glowed with threads of light, like life itself was woven from fire. And then I saw him. Magnus. Standing at the edge of the courtyard, framed by the moonlight. Cloaked in black, his eyes gleamed red. The sight of him sent a shock through my entire body. “Beautiful,” he murmured, voice carrying effortlessly across the distance. “The flame has awakened.”

“Keep calm, Max. This is not the time to be impatient. All in good time.” And right at that moment, there is movement from the trees of the forest before us. Then a group of men appears. Ten of them, all stark naked and all abnormally tall and wide. I feel Egil shift to my side. But I freeze when I see two of them, holding a leash. A leash that leads to a collar.
