I held my breath, but Malachi did not say my name. Relief flooded through me, but I dared not let it show. Yulia stood in a slow, fluid motion, then crossed the room with that deliberate sway of hers. She draped her arms around her husband’s shoulders and purred into his ear. “You took too long,” she murmured. Malachi barely reacted. His eyes were on me. I kept my gaze on the floor, hands folded neatly in my lap. “Who is she?” Malachi asked. I pressed my forehead to the ground. “My name is Mara, my Alpha.”

Ara's POV I stood with the three maids, our bodies trembling but our resolve unshaken. We were outnumbered, outmatched, but we couldn’t let the alphas destroy everything we loved. The male alphas circled us, their eyes glowing with predatory hunger. Their pheromones filled the air, oppressive and suffocating, but we fought back with our own. But it wasn’t enough. We weren’t strong enough. The maid assigned to protect me lunged first, her fists flying as she struck an alpha across the jaw. He staggered but recovered quickly, his claws slashing through the air.

I frown and ask, “Why are you helping us?” He raises his eyebrows at me and says, “You want my help, yet you think you can come in here and ask me questions, Darius.” I go to stand as Layla grabs my arm; she narrows her eyes at me before saying, “Darius didn't mean any disrespect, Mathias, but if you don't answer him, we will leave.” He put his head down, and his shoulders slumped as he rubbed his arms and said, “My daughter was sixteen when the Alphas came for her; we never saw her alive again.”

But I wasn’t going to have my mate make me answer to him every second of the day. Ethan, Mason and Knox went outside and started speaking to the warriors to make sure that they knew what they were doing and I was up on the veranda. There wasn’t really much I could do here to help. I knew that Nova could help a lot in a fight but Ethan insisted that I stayed behind. It was his own form of Alpha command that he put on me. But Alpha commands don’t work on me because I come from Alpha blood myself. At least on my dad’s side. So the Alpha command would never work on me.

’ Once the door closed behind her, I called out, “Send Maya in.” Moments later, she appeared hesitantly at the doorway. Her maid uniform hung slightly loose on her frame, and her wide eyes searched my face nervously. “Alpha?” “Come here,” I commanded gently, gesturing her forward. When she stood before me, I let my gaze settle on her, softer now. “Take that uniform off.” She blinked, startled. “What?” “You’re not a maid anymore,” I said firmly. “You may not be my mate …yet, Maya, but that doesn’t mean you’re a slave in my pack.”

I said, realizing I had been stupid, and began to break down and cry even more. "I hate to say this to you now in your darkest moment, but Maya, how could you be so stupid? How would you expect Alpha Caleb to love you when he'd rejected his mate, who was an omega, once?" She asked; she was concerned, but I knew even though Elena was concerned, she'd always say the truth and hit the nail on the head, but what she was saying I had no idea. "He rejected an omega?" I asked, facing her as I wiped my eyes. "What could she have done?" I probed.

“Selene told me, “She says, looking at us all. “We need to rescue them…. But we need to prepare first.” “So, where is Audra and is she,” Finn begins, but Mia cuts him off. “Audra is my mother, and Alpha Menard is my father,” she sighs, “But Luna Bianca, never allowed them to be marked…. But they were mates.” Veronica sighs, “Having two mates and one Alpha must have been so hard,” she says, leaning against Finn. Having even one mate who doesn’t recognize you…. Now that’s hard. I sigh, listening to the rest of the story. Almost all our questions are answered, but I know there are still some missing pieces, but at least we know where Audra is.

Lucia, Alpha Blake's mistress spoke up, her eyes flashing with pity at my obvious misery. I gave her a quick, surprised glance, was she the one who had me brought out of the dungeons? Why? I couldn't think of any reason that would make her extend a helping hand towards me. We had never even interacted. All I knew was that she was the Alpha's treasured mistress who we all expected to replace the dead Luna but for some reason, Alpha Blake had kept her as a mistress. "Maya has always been a fast learner, she will have no problems," Rhea chipped in, a mocking smile tugging on her lips.

They were aggressive and trained to kill and only a word from the Alpha's mouth can utterly destroy an entire rival pack. "Your time is almost up, Alpha. Lowell." Fridolf cuts in as uncle sobs. I saw the disgust all over his face as he heard Adolphus and Rudina crying like they were already taken for slaughter. "Better still, you could give your beautiful, little daughter to the Alpha!!" He chuckled as he squatted right before Rudina as he raised her head up, having her look right into his eyes. "She would make a good wife for the Alpha. She might be too young but definitely she'll grow so fast being in his arms!" He scoffed as his men laughed at his lame joke.

“A mind-link wouldn’t work.” “I know you heard me,” I pressed, my voice quieter now. “You looked right at me.” “I’m not interested in your questions,” he replied calmly, already turning away as a beta handed him several documents. That calm unsettled me more than cruelty ever could have. A woman stepped forward then she’s tall, sharp-eyed, dressed in formal black, authority stitched into every line of her posture. “You’ll serve as Alpha Ryder’s omega,” she announced. “I’m Mia. Head maid.”
