He slapped himself to beg for my forgiveness. Beside him, David lowered his head. "If you must kill someone, kill me first. That way, when I meet Ethan's parents in the afterlife, I can look them in the eye." I staggered back, the rod trembling in my hand. David was once a titan in the business world who carried himself with unshakable pride throughout his life. Now, he was kneeling before me. I felt a storm of emotions rise in my chest.

She took a step back, creating space between them. That man huffed and turned to face her completely, showing her his full face for the first time. "Ahh..." she screamed with horror. His entire right side looked unusual. His right eye doesn't have an iris, and his white eye ball scared her. The cheek on the right is very dry and sunken, pulling the skin under his eye a little. His right side made him look like a mummy. His left side looked normal. He sneered, as if he is not surprised by her reaction. After all, everyone reacted the same when they saw him in the past. So he stopped showing people his face.

I had the urge to always glance at myself to look at my body if it was really bad. I passed by an outdoor restaurant and narrowed my eyes as I noticed a man. His eyes were green and from his side view, he looked like Malcolm. But Malcolm is away on a trip. It couldn't be him. Two couples stood up and blocked my view of seeing the man. I looked away for a moment and when I returned my gaze, the man had left.

He had a full head of hair, a chiseled brow ridge, and a straight nose—features that accentuated his depthless eyes, the color of which was more obsidian than brown. He made the rest of the world and its noise fade into the background.

I glanced up, watching as Atlas approached with an icy glare, the man holding me didn’t stiffen— not even an inch. The scent of his cologne wrapped around me like a warm embrace, clearing the fog in my head. For a moment, he ignored Atlas and turned to me. “Are you okay? Atlas staggered, breathing heavily before he lunged at him.

As I got ready to take my third step, my legs felt weak and gave from underneath me. I feel strong hands grab my arms and then lift me bridal style. “You shouldn’t be out of bed, you haven’t had time to recover.” I looked up at the person, despite not being able to see in the woods, the familiar gold eyes stared back at me. I take in his features and he has short dark brown to red hair styled messily and an impassive expression, other than the slight worry I can see. I start to realize that looking at him this close up he kind of looks like a masculine version of myself.

Even Felix, who had been waiting at the hospital for his surgery, had been brought to the police station. With all the evidence gathered against her, there was nothing Luna could say to clear her name. Once Felix had a rough idea of what had happened, he yelled at the top of his lungs, "Officers, I had nothing to do with this incident!
