Mark didn't stop. He marched right up the wooden steps of the stage, stepping directly into the blinding white spotlight.
The sheer size of his frame completely dominated the platform, instantly casting a long, suffocating shadow over David and me. The marketing executives behind the monitors froze. The shutters went entirely dead, the silence in the ballroom turning into a suffocating chokehold.
"I don't follow schedules," Mark announced, his low, velvety rumble resonating through the microphon
