I brought my gaze back up, forcing a smirk. Maddy dropped her fork and leaned in a few inches. She lifted her sunglasses up until they were on the top of her head. I watched as her eyes dropped, giving me a quick once over. A look of confusion crossed her face. “What in the hell are you talking about, Jane? You've got a smokin' body. Seriously. I would straight up kill a human being to have your body. Like not even joking. Show me who I have to kill, and I'll do it to have your figure.”

Inside the main tent, Jane stood by the sand table, overlooking the entire Romenia terrain map. She appeared casual, but there was an unmistakable sharpness to her gaze, one that seemed to look down on everything. Wallace quickly walked in. "Commander, Shane is dead." Jane wasn't surprised at all. Without lifting her head, she asked, "What about the woman's family?" "I've sent them safely out of the military camp. No one saw them committing the crime."

How was Jane one of them? “You don't know Jane…” I said quietly. Mira held my gaze. “Jane is one of us.” “No,” I said immediately because I knew that wasn’t true. I had seen her. I had known her. I had watched her. “She’s not.” “She is,” Mira insisted. “We sent her to you.” “Sent?” I repeated. “To spy on you,” she added. Something inside me snapped. “You expect me to believe that?” I asked. “It’s the truth,” she insisted.

I smile watching her skip away. “Aww the little runt found herself some friends,” says a shrill voice to my left. Growls resound from all around, and I turn to face the culprit. “Jealousy looks about as good on you as that makeup, Jane,” I comment brightly. Jane Lahde. A proverbial pain in my ass. She’s like the female version of Ryker. Thinks she’s the Gods’ gift to men and thinks she’s the most special person in this pack. She’s not even good enough to lick my boots. Jane could be beautiful if she wasn’t such a raging bitch plus she’s wearing enough makeup to make a clown blush.

Her scent was surrounded by a thick bitter scent, and the way her blue eyes were filled with a beam of red and black surrounding it, it made it obvious that something was definitely wrong with my Jane. She drew her lips into a snarl and with a greater force, pushed my wolf off hers and quickly started running again. I didn’t bother to run after her. I was in too much shock to even move. ‘Who was that, Alpha?’ Mason’s wolf caught up with me. ‘J-Jane.’ ‘’Jane?!’ he asked, sounding equally perplexed. What the heck was wrong with my Jane? How’d she work with the Ardolfs? What had they done to her?

Agent Vernon asked his question with doubts in his mind. “I know that Agent Cho will turn off that bomb.” Agent Jane felt hope come over her after she said that. “Even though she’s pregnant, and she’s putting her body under tremendous stress, I feel she’s gonna pull through. She’s the only one who can play the game.” Agent Jane smiled while thinking about Agent Cho’s fighting history.

When she looked at Jade again, all that remained in her eyes was anger and disgust. Jane tossed her phone to her men and said, "I'm heading back now. Make sure you keep an eye on this woman for me. We must not let her fall into Mark's hands again." One of her men hesitantly asked, "What if she refuses to eat or take her medication? Then—" "Skipping medication for a few days won't kill her," Jane snapped in frustration. She intentionally raised her voice so that Jade could hear her. "Can a perfectly healthy person like her actually make herself suffer to the point of death?"

He went over to Jane who stood at a corner who spoke and laughed at no one in particular and when she saw Zade approaching her, she fell quiet and her expression changed into a sadistic frown. " Are you...hurt?" The words were pushed out of his mouth. Jane remained silent, her gaze just laid on him as he held her carefully and assisted her to walk. Along the way, she was taken by some female staff.

Raleigh and I spoke in unison. Her eyes shifted to me. Cold. Calculating. Utterly devoid of the fear I expected. "The person I loved and cared for most was her. Amaya Woods. My dearest mother." "And as for how to capture her?" Jane picked up her fork again, as casual as if discussing the weathe
