They said you never appeared on the day of the Marking. Did I not just tell you to wait?" Mason shouted. "Did you not see my text, Mason?" I asked.

Caden's POV The bonfire in the central square roared high enough to lick the night sky, sparks swirling with laughter and the thumping bass from a portable speaker. The entire pack of Silverhold was there—dancing, drinking, celebrating. I stood at the edge of the light, a cold beer sweating in my hand, untouched. My other hand on Maya’s waist, fingers curled possessively into the soft white dress. She was watching the crowd bless Damian, Selena and the babies, a small, tired smile on her face. Marga had just finished the video call with her husband, and Bethany was having coffee on the patio adjoining the bedroom while finishing her report for tomorrow. I wished I could change today; my heart and mind were at war about it because when I got home, my children and Marga had so many exciting stories about their day. Although only Isabella and the twins liked their new school, the fun the boys had in helping Wyatt decorate his front yard for Halloween’s trick-or-treat was something unforgettable for them.

Nico walks off the stage, and the music begins to play. Couples return to the dance floor, but the mood in the room is still somber. This isn’t like the parties that were held at the Moonstone Pack. Those parties were always full of joy and celebration.

After eating, they both settled down for a movie, cuddled against each other. Niko excused himself after a while as he made his way upstairs.
