Liked the way she moved when she was focused — precise, like she was stitching the world back together one careful item at a time. The sun was still low, sky dipped in silver haze. The streets stretched ahead, empty in that eerie, too - silent way. Then a shadow darted out of the alley. Aria’s foot hit the brake, hard. It was a boy. Maybe sixteen. Sprinting like hell itself was behind him. And it kind of was. A roamer — older, twitchy, its body twisted like its bones didn’t remember how to hold skin anymore — was on his heels. “Damn —” Aria muttered and swerved.

I made arrangements to meet Marcus at a cafe. However, his face tightened the moment he saw Ashford beside me. "He... Who is he?" Before I could answer, Ashford stepped forward and slipped an arm around my shoulders. "Mr. Gibson, I assume? I'm Ashford White, Zoey's fiancé. I came with her today so we can clear up everything." Marcus's eyes lingered on Ashford's hand for a moment before he looked away. "Zoey, I didn't know things would turn out like this."

The dashboard lights up red. "Drive!" Sebastian yells. The driver hits the gas. The car moves forward fast. We crash into the cars blocking our way. It is really loud. We break through. Keep going. The rain washes over the windshield. I breathe out. My hands are shaking. I look at the window. The bullet did not get through. The window is ruined. The driver takes turns. We avoid the roads. Aris watches the cameras on his tablet. "No one is following us," Aris says. "We lost them under the bridge."

The room folded in on itself, turning into a blank, white void. “He’s doing it!” Julian yelled. “The Architect is deleting the whole world!” “Go!” Aris shoved Maya and Julian toward a small, glowing crack in the ceiling. “The path to Chapter 100’s up there! I’ll stay and try to stop him!” “No! I won’t leave you again!” Maya cried. “You have to!” Aris smiled—just for a second, he looked like her gentle father. “A father always wants his daughter to have a better ending than he had. Now, run!”

It sounded like a human but I knew humans weren't here so it had to be Ariella. "Helllp." A scream that could only be Ariella's sounded. "Help please." Her voice got louder telling me that she was not to far away. I cursed a few times as I quickened my pace. It was impossible to run without accidentally bumping my head or getting tangled in veins so the best I could do was jog as I maneuvered through this maze that I created. "Maverick." Ariella's scream for me had me picking up my pace. She wouldn't be calling for me unless something was really wrong.

I turn back towards Carmen, who's just staring at us in shock. 'I didn't know we could do that,' Amira says. 'Me either,' I reply. I go over to Carmen and motion for her to climb on my back. She situated herself on top of me, and I begin to sprint as fast as I can thorugh the trees without flinging her off. I run right by the battlefield, glowing like a freaking firecracker, turning many heads. I didn't care to stop and fight. I trust Arienne and his men to keep them off our asses for the time being if I ask.

Today I am working with Aries and I swear he is trying to kill me, at least Arrow goes a bit easier on me. Right now I am on my back on the grass heavy breathing like a loser, while Aries stands hands on hips grinning down at me. The back of my neck is tingling as though someone is watching us. Aries leans over and helps me up. I have only just stood up and Aries goes to get our water bottles when someone slams into me almost knocking me on my ass again.

He wouldn't stop mocking me along with his fellow guards in the front seat but finally, we arrived at a mansion I assumed to belong to this Mr Rover and I rushed out of the car just to get away from them. The guards called for me while I scurried away toward the mansion but then I tripped and fell and my knees scraped against the graveled ground, causing me to hiss in pain as I sustained injuries. Immediately, the double doors to the mansion swept open and I looked up to see the most devilishly handsome man ever walking out of the building with a gun and a silencer in his hands. Aria’s POV I move swiftly down the halls of the office, the buzz of noise flashing by me. It’s comforting, like the hum of a well-oiled machine. I’m back, fully recovered and ready to dive headfirst into work. The major race is looming on the horizon, and I’m determined to prove myself, not just to my team but to myself as well. “Aria!” Jackson calls out as soon as I walk in. He’s already in racing gear, his face flushed with excitement. “We’ve got a team meeting in ten. Can you help me go over some last-minute strategies?”
