"Welcome to the Gauntlet Run. Racers will navigate a three-mile course through the Ravine Sector. Only the top four finishers advance. The rest are disqualified." Disqualified. Such a clean word for what really happened. The course map appeared on the screens. Narrow pathways, collapsing bridges, and a stretch called the Killing Floor where the path split into three routes. According to Ash's intel, only one route was safe. The other two led straight into traps designed to look like accidents. I touched my helmet, feeling the tiny camera Juno had installed. It was active. Recording. "Racers, take your positions." I moved to the starting line. A girl next to me was shaking so badly I could he

Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be as the screams get louder before another long whistle blows making me think they got hurt, or worse. Just then another horn sounds off. This one lower and almost baritone, like a foghorn. Then the sound of rocks shifting could be heard, like an earthquake as the walls begin to move on their own. Some lifting while others shifting into weird angles. Kinda like the hunger games, and the weird terrane that tries to kill you as I'm forced into a different passage before it could crush me. What in the world? Moving walls? Are we suddenly in Panem? "For crying out loud” I yell more to myself than to anyone else, realizing this game wouldn’t be considered fair. As this

" I ran to catch up to Madison as June followed. The mental crisis you just read had been happening to me off and on ever since the team and I defeated Thorne. For those of you who are new, it is probably best if you skim the last book! I know what you’re thinking! who actually reads anymore? But it will make a lot more sense if you do. Trust me! Anyway, we made it to the end of the hallway, and I began to sense the presence of the other hybrids. " Two floors above us! " I said as we ran further into The Faithless base. But then, three bulky The Faithless drones cut off our path and circled us! Each one pulling out massive revolving missile cannons. All rotating and locking on to us individu

It gets bigger and bigger before splitting into three smaller tornadoes and entering our bodies. I begin shaking, and so do Ivan and Vaughn. Just as suddenly as it started, it stops. I feel different. I see a golden design on my arms, like a golden tattoo. Ivan and Vaughn have matching designs from what I can see of their arms. I don't know exactly what this means, but hopefully, someone else does because I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Toto.

He was hurt. The energy fueling my run vanished. Nausea and weakness paralyzed me. The feedback hit. A splitting migraine. Rian had shifted. He was fighting the Tribunal. I struggled to hold the railing. I crawled beneath the main deck. I reached the cursed territory. I settled there. I fought the residual pain. The air was thick with brine and decay. I heard muffled ticking. A detonation timer was set above me. I pulled the hunting knife close. I was trapped.

Twenty miles of open, coverless wasteland, carrying a bomb of pure anti-matter, with an alien armada descending from the sky and hounds of deletion snapping at our tires. The Speedrun was over. Now, it was just a race for our lives.

Not up to twenty minutes since she slept off Jayden got into her room through the window with blood all over his body and marks from sharp claws from the fierce fight with the rogue Werewolves. He stared at his sleeping mate in front of him and just as he took a step towards her he saw her open her eyes and stare at him with shock as she gasped.Chapter 21 : Lost In The Maze Three hours have passed and Muna was not yet out of the maze. At first when she had gotten into the maze she was so excited and energetic as she explored round the maze but then after an hour had passed and she realized that she had just been going round and round and ending up at the same place.

His blood hits the floor and sinks; the Maze drinks it greedily. He glances at me. “It needs blood freely given.” “I can help.” “No.” He’s firm, low. “One of us bleeds. Not both.” But the Maze doesn’t stay satisfied for long. By the next chamber, the heartbeat quickens, louder, impatient. The walls pulse tighter, forcing us single-file through a tunnel barely wide enough to breathe. The floor squelches with each step. Renna vomits. The sound echoes wetly. I gag, forcing it down. “Keep moving.”

But the leg is not in such a shape that it can run over uneven ground while bearing Fred's full weight. We stand at the invisible start line of a race of unknown length and take a deep breath. Martin, Madeline, Maverick and I look at each other, conveying our concern. We take a deep breath. “Go,” Maverick says. The seven of us break into a run while Noah, Douglas and Fred go as fast as they can. About 15 steps in the first arrow swoops past me, hitting the ground. “Keep moving,” I yell. Zigzagging through the forest. I hate that we are just running from them trying to avoid getting hit but without weapons or protection it’s our only option. Run, hope and pray to the Moon Goddess that she wil
