Maverick didn't tell me anything about the hideout, nor about any encounter with the wolves recently. “Attack!” Panic clawed at me. The wolves shifted, including Maverick. They attacked. Spines cracking, ribs breaking, stomach slashing. None of those attacks worked on them. Instead, they healed in less than a second. Maverick shifted back, hands protectively to my side.
