Demetrius smiled and replied, "You are not the first to grapple with such a challenge, my dear Alcides. Let me tell you about the philosopher king, Marcus Aurelius, who, while leading the Roman Empire, wrote a series of personal writings now known as 'Meditations.' He balanced the responsibilities of leadership with the pursuit of wisdom, showing that both paths can coexist." Alcides was intrigued and asked, "But how can I apply this to my own life, Demetrius?" Demetrius leaned forward, his eyes filled with wisdom. "You must recognize that your life as a gladiator can be a training ground for your mind as well. Observe the strategies and tactics used by your fellow fighters. Learn from their

Crash course in seduction with my ex's rival

Crash course in seduction with my ex's rival

I thought about the practical steps. First, I needed control. Marcus could help me with the exercises, the shifts, the partial scents. He was patient. So patient it made me wonder if he had a secret stash of tranquilizers hidden somewhere. I’d done my breathing, my stretches, the little meditative wolf exercises he suggested, and he just watched like a statue. The quiet kind that makes you feel like if you mess up once, he’ll write it in a file and never forget.

The Game of Heavens and Earth

Glancing back to the photo, I gasped, “You’re Marcus Aurelius? No, no, no, it can’t be him.” I refused to believe that the Blood Eagle King was Marcus Aurelius. I read so much about him. He was the last great ruler when Rome was in its Golden Age. I went to the bookshelf on my left. The books were mostly about Romans. There were different ones like Sun Tzu’s Art of War and Machiavelli’s The Prince. There was also a book, Meditations, written by Marcus Aurelius himself. “I could really use your wisdom for my crappy life.”

Hunters: The Prequel

"It is something Marcus used to say. He even wrote it in a book he published. I think it was called 'Meditations'. Now answer my question." Ray nodded and didn't say anything else. He didn't know why his master was suddenly talking about these people. He was sure that it had something to do with the screening spell earlier. If he wasn't wrong, the spell had caused his master to relive those moments when he was with these people. So in other words, they had this stranger to thank for his master's strange state. He was also just going to breeze past his master's eagerness to receive his reply when the old man hadn't even answered his question. However he knew they were getting there.

I hope that’s not the end end. So many left off pieces of the story all his friends on the other world, all the other gods story lines, he’s only used his blood born weapons and armour twice. Hasn’t even made it out of dreamscape yet. Still have everything in true verse going on while he “asleep”

The Whispers in the Woods

The Whispers in the Woods

Each day, we would venture out for a couple of hours, and Marcus would guide me through the mental aspects of my powers first. As he spoke, his voice took on a soothing quality, each word an invitation to explore the depths of my abilities. The world around us faded away, leaving only the sound of rustling leaves and the gentle murmur of the wind as I focused intently on his teachings.

Reborn for vengeance: From ashes to Luna

Reborn for vengeance: From ashes to Luna

My knees buckled and I hit the ground hard, palms slamming into the earth as my breath tore from my chest in ragged gasps. “You are strong,” he said calmly. “But your mind is loud. You are allowing your anger and fears to control you.” I looked up at him, my chest still rising and falling rapidly. “Do you know why we started with meditation?” he asked. I shook my head. “That is to empty your mind of your fears and anger. But tell me sincerely, what did you think about when we were meditating?” he asked. “I felt my senses heighten first,” I replied through sharp breaths. I paused, breathed in deeply, and tried to control my breathing. “I felt and heard the wind, the trees, and the birds. I th

The old man fucking yawned. “I was in the middle of a meditation when you called, Cassian,” he said, letting the pause hang between us. “That space—those minutes of silence—I don’t get many of them these days. So if this isn’t urgent, I’d rather return to the one moment of peace I had carved out for myself.”

His Love, My Nemesis

His Love, My Nemesis

I know it was eleven because I watched the clock, needing the precision of it, the way numbers are reliable in a way that feelings are not. Eleven minutes in which I sat very still with my hands flat on my desk and breathed the way I had taught myself to breathe when things threatened to become larger than the space I had built to contain them. In through the nose. Out through the mouth. Slow and deliberate, the way you breathe when you are telling your nervous system a story about being calm until it believes you. Marcus Veil. I had wondered, sometimes, over the years — in the way you wonder about things you have filed away, briefly, at odd moments before filing them away again — what it wo

Pregnant For The Cursed Alpha

Each member embraced their role in the grand tapestry of our existence, driven by the knowledge that their actions would shape the future. One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of orange and pink across the sky, I sat in my room, preparing for my nightly meditation. The room was hushed, the only sound was the gentle rustle of pages as I leafed through the ancient books. In the stillness, a faint echo reached my ears. It was a murmur, a melody of distant voices that seemed to call out to me. Intrigued, I closed my eyes, allowing the melody to guide me deeper into my meditation.

she imparted, running a finger along the shelf, checking for dust. Anxiety crept up my spine as I considered and introspected. “I should be clear except for envy.” Warily, I thought of Mercedes. “Clear your mind and focus only on the globe. That should work,” Penn advised, standing by the shelf and now monitoring my steps. Nodding, I closed my eyes and briefly meditated. I blew out a long breath before opening my eyes. “I'm ready.” “Avoid stepping on the edges of the shapes. Place the ball of your feet in the center as you walk,” Penn cautioned, glancing at my feet.
