Meghann shifted against me. A soft sigh parted her lips, her eyelashes fluttering as she dragged herself out of a deep sleep. She opened her green eyes, blinking against the dawn light.
For a fraction of a second, she looked entirely peaceful. Then, the memories of the bridge, the shattered glass, and the backseat crashed into her mind.
I felt the exact moment her body went rigid.
She pushed herself up, breaking the contact between us. She grabbed the edge of the thick quilt and pulled it up to her collarbone, covering her bare shoulders. She wouldn't look at me. She stared straight ahead at t
