I didn’t trust my voice not to sound cruel. She reached out, her fingers lightly tracing my hand. “Leo, we haven’t talked properly in days. You barely come home. I just wanted to feel like I still mattered.” I rubbed my temples. “Miriam, not tonight.” “There’s something you need to know,” she interrupted quickly, her tone changing. “It’s about Kiara.” I froze. “What about her?” “It’s about her daughter, Sophia.” My chest tightened. “What about her?” “She’s yours,” Miriam said simply, her eyes glinting with satisfaction beneath the softness.

“You sold out my parents.” This time my grandfather hears me and he turns to face, “Your parents? Who are-“ “My mother was Miriam,” I say, slowly, looking at him. “She died after giving birth to me.” “You’re Miriam’s child?” All the anger disappears from my grandfather’s face as he goes pale. He takes a step towards me, almost forgetting about Ariel. His piercing blue eyes rake over me and then his lips part in a shaking gesture, “You look like her. How did I miss it? You look just like my Miriam.”

Miriam stopped pacing and turned to look at me , her eyes bright, her face looked flushed. "Not directly, but Eve here played a major part. In other terms she was the catalyst that set the plan in motion." I slid my gaze from Miriam's face riddled with excitement to level them at Eve who was smirking at me, her eyes pools of hate. "Why me?" Miriam chuckled, a sudden gentle sound which was in sharp contrast to the aura she was giving off. "Don't take it personal but we have nothing against you. You were merely in the way of something important we needed to get'' Miriam glowered coming closer to me.

One wrong word and there would be one less Elder in the hall! “A few minutes ago,” the oldest Elder here responded. She was an aged woman with hair full of gray hair and eyes that reflected deep pools of wisdom. Seeing her step up, many of the elders sighed silently in relief. And why was that? Well, this elder was called Elder Miriam. And she was no ordinary elder. She was one of Magma’s teachers! Magma only had two teachers his entire life, and Elder Miriam was one of them. She was the only one amongst the elders who knew Magma better than he even knew himself. And Magma respected her so much that there was no way he would ever harm her. The more I thought about it, the more it worried me, and I needed to know if I was the only one seeing it. “Mother Liora,” I called her quietly. She turned to face me. “Yes, Alpha?” “There’s something I’ve been wondering about,” I said tentatively. “Go ahead,” she encouraged. I nodded, hesitating for a moment before speaking. “Is Miriam… and Maya related in another way other than her being her nanny?” The Priestess’s expression didn’t change, but her eyes seemed to darken with an emotion I couldn’t quite place. She looked at me for a long while before finally replying.

Amelia spun around. An elderly woman stood between two pillars. She wore simple white robes. Her silver hair was tied neatly behind her head. She hadn’t been there a moment earlier. Amelia instinctively stepped back. “Who are you?” The woman smiled kindly. “My name is Miriam.” “Were you one of the Archivists?” She shook her head. “I was.” “And before that…” She glanced at the pillars. “…I was the Guardian.” Amelia frowned. “How are you here?”

“The Luna and her allies were pushing for it.” The priestess nodded grimly. “They want her gone. She’s a threat to them, not because she’s cursed, but because her presence weakens their hold on you.” Her words hit like lightning. “Shannon,” I growled. “She’s behind this.” “She’s not alone,” the priestess said. “There’s another woman that's powerful, cunning. I heard them before I was struck. The Luna called her Miriam.” Miriam. The name sounded familiar, like a ghost from an old wound.

Please accept my apologies for her actions; she is a bit hesitant around new people. Mrs. Greensmith remarked, "This is Miriam, Norval's younger sister." “Hi there Miriam, my name is Luciana. Luciana extended her hand towards her, anticipating a handshake, and continued, "It's nice to meet you." As Luciana's hand reached Miriam, she tucked her head back behind her mother's arm. For a small moment, the situation grew uncomfortable.
