A gust of wind rushed through the tent and the scene around her disappeared as she found herself back on the pier, still gazing into the necromancer's eyes. The trance broken, Merlin stepped back, glaring indignantly at him as she stumbled and fell onto something hard and muscular, crouched down low behind her. She heard a familiar growl and instinctively reached out to grab Zeke’s neck as he rose up and leaped forward, charging past the necromancer and his witches.

"The King fled. But the amount of ancient magic you just discharged to resurrect him, Elara... it acted as a beacon. He fished inside his jacket pocket and handed Max an amulet. He revealed, “Valencia especially made this for you. I hope you won’t go too far, for the magic will only work within the continent. Call on me whenever you are in trouble, but fucking please don’t find trouble.” Max nodded, and while accepting the amulet, he answered, “You’ll always be the first person I would call Alric, always will. I released a breath. For the first time, I wondered if the High Mage had been wrong about me but there was still something I couldn't understand. “What about the Voidborn?” I asked. Valerie's expression became serious. “The first Arcane was the one who sealed the Voidborn away.
