Every time I shifted position, a sharp tingling ran through my muscles. Paul hummed from time to time. A familiar, insistent melody that scraped against my nerves. I couldn’t remember where I knew it from, and maybe that made it worse. It sounded like an echo from the past that refused to fade. Then the metallic sound of a bolt shattered the monotony. I felt a hot liquid flow from my eyes and run down on my cheeks. “N-No…” I finally voice out. “Y-You were lying.” “I am sorry Meri. She loves you and she’s calling your name before she finally closed her eyes.” “No, you liar! Momma is not dead!” I shouted and made some of my schoolmates look in my directions. “She told me she will watch me get the trophy again.” “Your grandmother will have a wake at the chapel near the Green’s mansion. He was convinced he would die that night. His feet got tangled in his net. The strong waves made it impossible for Carl to free himself, and he drifted, battered by the waves, losing control. In his resignation, Carl saw something glowing swimming toward him. It weaved gracefully under the water, with a blueish glow, looking beautiful. When it got closer, the creature's hand reached for Carl, but it wasn't like a human hand. My body moved as though pulled by a magnet, and I took slow steps toward them, drawn by the sound. “Are you sure it’s not going to stop?” he asked, now looking at her.

Melissa looks at us and sighs. "This is not going to work!" She says. "Everybody, get back." We look at her and then follow as she says. Melly closes her eyes and looks at the sky. The beasts charge towards her. "MELLYYY!" I scream. Melissa screams hard and just as the beasts surround her, a big lightning bold fires from the sky killing all them. Their bodies fall to the ground and Melly stands there gasping. She looks at us and smiles. We all run to her and hug.

Mel coughed as she sat upright and grabbed Alec's hands to drink more and Alec and I smiled, knowing it was a sign that she was still fighting to survive. When the water touched her dry throat and she realized where she was and the people around her, Mel’s eyes suddenly filled with life and it glimmered from the light of the fire dancing inside the cave and whispered, “You came back for me…” “Silly… of course, I will come back for you, Mel!” Alec pulled her into an embrace and Mel couldn’t stop sobbing on his chest after she lost control of all the fears and despair that had been. I let them have their small privacy and left the cave for a minute while I gathered more water for her later.
