Christmas Memory
“Where’s your friend?”
If birds could talk, she imagined they were saying she was gone, and they missed her. “I know the feeling. Maybe she’ll come back.”
They danced around a little bit more, and Memory sat back, leaning her arm on the windowsill. Her eyes wandered over to the place where the tree should’ve been, and a memory came to mind from when she was a little girl. She could picture herself, three or four, standing over by the large Christmas tree, looking up at it, and then, she distinctly remembered seeing a woman standing by the tree, smiling at her.
