I felt it then that familiar surge rising within me. Moonlight energy coiled at the base of my spine, threading through my core and flooding my limbs with controlled power. My eyes shifted, silver and red bleeding into each other, while the dual bloodlines within me hummed in perfect harmony, making the air around me ripple with quiet, dangerous force. Blade hesitated for just a second, but it was enough. His wolf recognized what mine was something older, something far more dangerous than a regular Alpha and the primal part of him screamed to submit.

Glacier pressed the attack mercilessly, aiming for the other eye. Roosevelt frowned. From thin air, the first Dark Blade—the original weapon he had ever forged—materialized in his hand. He hurled it with deadly precision. The blade tore through the air and sank deep into Glacier’s right wing. Blood sprayed in a wide arc. Raphael lost balance, cursing violently. “If that’s how you want it,” Raphael growled. He swung Frostbite wildly at Roosevelt. “Shadow Scale,” Roosevelt whispered. Raphael’s sword burst into flames and crumbled to ash in an instant. Shock flashed across his face.

The wolf lunge, blades were raised aiming for my chest And the clearing held its breath.

It snapped at her face, its breath smelling of copper and chemical preservatives. She spun to the left, her silver movements fluid and weightless. She allowed the wolf’s momentum to carry it past her, but as it did, she drove her silver blade upward, targeting the unarmored gap beneath its foreleg. The silver energy coating the blade sliced through the tough hide effortlessly. The moment the silver entered the creature’s bloodstream, the violet light in its eyes vanished, replaced by a flash of blinding white light as the internal cybernetics short-circuited. The wolf crashed into the central console, sparking violently before collapsing.

The beasts lunged. Ryder moved first. He leapt toward the nearest wolf, slicing across its glowing neck. Instead of flesh, his blade tore through light, sending a spray of shimmering sparks into the air. The wolf staggered, its energy flickering. Ryder followed with a second strike, driving it back toward the treeline.

The wolf's bay carried through the air. Lucas wasted no time running towards the sound. Certain this was it, one of his soldiers found something. His paws hit the snow as he sped forward, gearing himself up for a fight. The baying continued and started moving towards the lodge. Lucas shifted his path knowing the howling wolf decided the best thing was to regroup there. It didn't take long for Lucas to arrive. An all too familiar scent filled the air. The wolf who was howling arrived first, he continued to make the call drawing everyone back.

“This ends tonight, Rafe. But not with me in the ground. With you exposed for what you are—a pretender who hides behind wolves because he can’t fight like one.” Rafe’s eyes darted, fury twisting into desperation. He raised his gun again— And then, a new sound split the night. Engines. Roaring. Dozens of them. Headlights blazed through the treeline, beams slicing the darkness. Blade grinned, sharp and savage. “Looks like the real wolves just arrived.” The reinforcements tore into the clearing, bikes skidding, tires spitting mud. Slowly, I raised the sword before me, pointing it directly at the door, as my hands shook, while I tried to steady them, as I took deep breaths, praying to the Moon Goddess for a miracle. As the last chair fell from our barricade, and the door broke free from its hinges, a low growl echoed into the room, and I knew that growl better than anyone. The door at that moment came crashing into the room, but the rogue was no longer standing on the other side of the doorway. He’s found his targets. He jumps the first recruit he finds, tearing at him. The kid’s screaming and thrashing, trying to hold my jaws back. He don’t dare shift and turn on an angry Alpha. It would be pure suicide. My wolf snaps fast and viciously as I’m covering him in drool. Blade sees him. “HEY!!” The other trainers run with him. They all shift.
