I reach out, my fingers brushing along her jaw, grounding both of us to this moment, to this place. “And the next time something happens,” I say, keeping my voice low, steady, “you reach me through the mindlink. You don’t walk into a warzone to find me. Don’t put yourself within Xaden’s reach just to make sure I’m still alive.” A pause. “You can always reach me. That’s what it’s there for.” She’s quiet for a second.

I don’t smell fear on her. She nods her head and then I look at Thalia and Mia and I start talking to them via the mind link. ‘If you two are ever in trouble, you can connect via mind link now.’ I hear both of them gasp and I chuckle. Raul and Sophie also chuckle. “Pretty cool, huh?” I say to Thalia and her sister. “That is so neat. How do you do that?” Mia asked. Raul interrupts, “I will show you, Mia. I’m sure Aiden and Thalia are tired and would like to go rest.”

His dark eyes were fixed entirely on Gina, tracking her movement. *Go,* his voice echoed directly inside her mind—a powerful, commanding Alpha link that left no room for argument. *Keep my heart beating, Gina. Run.* The guilt that had been simmering in Gina’s chest all afternoon boiled over into a fierce, blinding defiance. *No,* she thought back, throwing the mental link right back at him with a strength that surprised them both. *I am not running anymore. From what he told her mind links were only possible between pack members and it was stronger with families and mates. How was it possible that Noah could mind link her? "How is it possible? You're from another pack. Right?" She asked and he nodded. "Yes, you're right. I'm from Lux Aeterna." "Then how come you can mind link me? Because last I checked that's not possible." "Not yet. But our enemies want us separated. The Mother, Viktor, Luther — they all gain when we're at odds." I held out my hand, palm up. "A partial mate link. Just enough to share power, to know if the other is in danger." Amara looked at my hand, then at my face. "If I do this... it doesn't mean I've chosen you." "I understand." After a long moment, she put her hand in mine. The link was instant — like lightning striking my heart. I gasped as her power flooded through me. Blue and purple light raced up my arm, mixed with the golden glow of my Alpha strength.

“ Oh,” she gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. "You can mindlink with others now? That's right, you're the Supreme Luna now. Of course you can.” I didn't bother responding to her as I knew that was nothing but mockery. Mindlink actually works differently. You can mindlink your family or your pack mate but you can't mindlink those that are not within your pack—only those of the superior rank can create a strong mindlink connection.

“That was magic!” I hugged him, pride and surprise and concern and fear all battling within me. “It’s called mindlink, and it’s our superpower. If we try, we can always find each other’s minds and talk to each other. We’re connected. So we won’t ever really be apart, okay?” He nodded at me, looking worried again. “You keep practicing, and I’ll be back with your medicine so, so soon – before you can even do it again, I bet!” I tried to force a smile and ignore the stinging of tears in my eyes. I cupped his face in my hands and touched our foreheads together.

Fuck and here I thought I was going to tease her, that didn’t work out as planned now I’m painfully straining against my pants licking my lips at this impossibly sexy Goddess in front of me, my Mate, my Luna. Now that we have bound our packs together and are Alpha and Luna we can mind link each other and every other pack member for that matter so when I hear Uhtred’s voice through the mind link for the first time I’m a little thrown off guard, I sit up looking around the room thinking he is actually here when Octavia giggles at me. “You got that link to huh.” She asks. “Yea I forgot we were linked for a second.” I scratch my neck feeling a little embarrassed.

Many of them are already dead, or deadly wounded. ‘Don’t you dare die on me, Liam!’ I link him, trying to keep him from fading too far away. ‘I’m trying not to, baby.’ He links me back, but it is faint. Then someone else joins me, and when I look up, Ember has given me control back, it’s Lilliana.

But for the first time in years, I realized that I've been mind-linking a woman who's not my mate and that gives me chills. No one, I mean no one can be linked to me as long as he or she is not a descendant of Midnight Shade or my mate.
