Jettison POV The air was stale in the shadowed corner of the Midnight Club—one of the most flourishing spots for sin in the whole of Black moore pack. It was an empire I’d built with blood, sweat, and racing engines years ago. Neon lights flickered across the floor where bodies moved and twisted to the music thundering from the loudspeakers. Laughter, shouts, and the stink of alcohol filled the air, everything reeking of sin and danger—but heck, none of it reached me tonight.

I watch the road. The house appears at midnight. It is small, wooden, set back from the road, surrounded by pines so thick they block the moonlight. A single light burns in the window, yellow and faint. Smoke rises from the stone chimney, thin and grey. A car is parked in the driveway, its black paint gleaming under the stars. The same black car from the diner. The same man who drove it is gone, arrested, in custody. But the car remains. A ghost of the chase. Marcus stops at the tree line. He kills the engine. The silence is heavy, broken only by the wind in the pines. He asks if I want him to come.

She stepped inside the room and closed the door behind her. The lock clicked under her fingers. The faint music from the party downstairs felt far away. “This is the last time,” she whispered. Her voice shook. “Before I get married.” Adrian smiled darkly. He placed his phone on the bed beside him. The video kept playing on low volume.
