Chapter 6 Eliana Maxine “Anyway, enough about me. What’s everyone doing this summer?” Mica asked, stretching her legs out on the carpet. I let out a dramatic sigh and flopped back onto the cushions. “Mine’s going to be absolutely thrilling. I’ll be home, binge-watching K-dramas and reading books all summer long.” Cassie snorted. “Of course you will.” Gladz grinned, nudging my foot playfully with hers. “At least you’re consistent.”

His eyes met Issabella's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. "Hey, what's up? Come in," he said finally, stepping aside to let her pass. Issabella walked in, her eyes scanning the room as if searching for something. Or someone. Miguel’s room was bathed in the soft glow of his laptop screen. He walked past her and sat on the edge of his bed, leaving the door opened, his sleeves rolled up, and his attention glued to whatever was on the screen. The light cast shadows along his jawline, making his already serious expression look even more intense.

“Right. Just a friendly little sorry for the part where you disappeared and never came back. I’m sure he’ll be real understanding.” I stepped forward. “Don’t start.” “Oh, I’m not starting anything,” he said, standing up straight now, that glint in his eye turning sharp. “You’re the one starting shit. You’re the one chasing two people at once and acting like it’s noble.” I laughed once, sharp and humorless. “You think this is easy for me? You think I wanted this?” “I think you liked the attention,” Miguel snapped. “I think it felt good to be adored by two men who’d bleed for you. I think you liked knowing we’d both crawl if you just lifted a finger.”

Two hours later, a Chinese hacker named Xiang Hu turned to him. “Sir Miguel, the files are open.” Miguel’s gaze sharpened. “Have you looked at them?” “No, sir.” “Good. Leave.” Once everyone left, Miguel sat down, opened the files, and started scrolling through them. Within seconds, his face turned serious. “What the hell am I looking at?” he muttered, letting out a sharp breath. He quickly grabbed his burner phone and called Amelia. She picked up. “You’re calling me on a burner phone? What’s going on?”

Something was… off. Miguel wasn’t acting like Miguel. His usual confident air had cracked. It was replaced by a subtle stiffness in his limbs, like he didn’t know what to do with his own hands. His eyes darted around too quickly, and he cleared his throat twice in a row before reaching for a glass of untouched water that wasn’t even his. And then, there was silence. A weighty one. Xander blinked once, and slowly. He looked at Miguel. Then Drake. Back to Miguel.

Eden ordered. Miguel stood up excitedly. "Thank you boss" he said with excitement as he hugged Eden. "Um.. that's..ok.." Eden shrugged as he pulled Miguel off him. He wasn't used to this, getting in close contact with people except his siblings. "Um.. I'm sorry boss" Miguel said as he pulled away from him and walked out of the room immediately. ** He hurried off into the room where Marilyn had been kept. He found her reading a book as he walked in. She sat up as soon as she saw him.

I need to divert my attention and I know Diego will understand me too. This time I will choose Diego over my desire to take revenge on Killian. "You really did a good job, Miguel," I said with a smile to one of the gammas, Miguel. "Thank you, dear Luna. I have no other desire but to protect the entire bloody scar." he replied with a smile. “How many training sessions have you done? A hundred times or a thousand more?" I asked him with a smile. He laughed at what I said and I laughed too. Miguel is the best gamma fighter of bloody scar. I can't count how many fights he has won in the Arena and against our enemies before. He still hasn't changed so much. I'm proud of him.

Miguel's knuckles were white on the steering wheel, and Ximena could feel the weight of his protective energy; he wasn't just concerned about her; he was livid. We will talk about this later,” he promised. “Right now, let’s get you to safety.”
